Dealer said need new keyless system

2016 Fit yellow warning lights have been coming on and off intermittently. Twice in the past few days after we turned off the vehicle everything was dead and it would not lock or start. After sitting for a few minutes it started again and the warning lights were off. The dealer said it is a problem with the keyless system and it needs to be replaced. That sounds weird to me. I think they are grasping at straws because they cant figure it out. Help please!

If by warning lights you mean hazards then yeah, I can see why they'd say that. Please never assume with mechanics, just go off of their track record, reviews, etc.. I often times run into customers that think they know better and end up turning away work (I cost about 30-40% less than most shops) because they end up insulting me by assuming they know better. They lose money and it's a waste of time. It's not like baking a cake or troubleshooting a light switch. That being said it could very well be something shorting out in the module or another power distribution module.

It's a hard gig and impatient know it all customers are the reason why some techs only get an hour to trouble shoot for something that should be two. If you need a second opinion, spend the money. Consider it insurance. But for your particular vehicle, I'd lean towards a power distribution issue, ignition switch, or what they said. Let us know what you find out too please. I'd be interested to know the outcome, thanks.

I have a 2016 with key ignition and all warning lights came on last night. It has 150,000 miles on it, but the tire pressure warning flashed for a while, but tires are all within 2 lbs. The Power Steering warning was on as well but it is working correctly. The check engine light and traction control lights were on as well.

Random warning lights can be a sign of a 12v battery issue. Pretty much any auto parts store will check your battery for free. This time of year, temperature may also play a role, as a battery that struggles a bit at 20F in the morning will seem okay at 45F in the afternoon.

51R Battery fits perfectly

After a grand at the dealer, they didn't replace the battery as I asked, so I measured several batteries and the 51R would fit in my 2016 Fit just fine. It is the same height, width and is a bit longer, but works just fine. The connections are the same but it has more cold cranking amps and more reserve capacity. It was the same price at NAPA. FYI.
