Question is this from a Fit

Hi...haven't been here in a long while and have the strangest question...Is this from my daughter's 2008 Fit...I found it under the center console...wonder if it could be something important or maybe not even from the car...Here is a pic..I'll delete if its irrelevant. Thanks much.

Is this from a 2008 Honda fit or unrelated, found under center console

That looks like a device for an aftermarket alarm.. Looks to be like a proximity sensor.

damn you are good

Thanks...I found this under the console..could this be related to another problem I just had and posted in 1st gen Fit forum. I just changed the battery in my daughter's key FOB on this 2008 sport, the only one that has a battery, which I assume only controls the door locks. But it seems the immobilizer some how got set off...I don't imagine its related to this old device that isn't plugged in anywhere..unless it fell out. The engine cranks but won't start. Depite a call to a dealer where someone said if the immobilizer went off it would not crank...not true! I since read in my manual that the immobilizer diables the fuel system and my little green key keeps blinking. Any thoughts and can I turn the immobilizer off or have to go to dealer and pay to have a new key or old one properly programmed...but not sure what happened, changing the battery should not have done anything other than made the door locks work consistently which they do...any thoughts appreciated.

The person you spoke to probably doesn't have any knowledge of how cars really work. The car will be able to crank with and in some cases the car will start up and only run for a few seconds before shutting off if the key is not authenticated with the key ID reader. (Usually a ring around the ignition switch).

I suspect that you somehow tripped the aftermarket alarm which is cutting the power to the fuel relay. Try to see if you have the aftermarket alarm remote.. and just rearm and then disarm the alarm. If that is not possible (because you don't have the aftermarket alarm remote) Then try disabling the alarm brain it self by just unplugging it from the power source.. That you will have to find on your own.. as each alarm installer has their own way of hiding the alarm.. easiest way to find the brain is to find any aftermarket looking wiring a follow it back to the brain.. first try checking the fuse panel for any wire taps, then try checking the ignition switch wires for any clues.

Also immobilizer doesn't just go off like an alarm.. what it does is authenticate if the key you are using in the ignition switch has the proper RFID code.

For example: Ignition switch has a RFID reader.. You start car with key.. RFID reader checks with key.. is key code..12345 .. if YES then keep power to relays ON.. If NO then cut power to relays OFF.

Question thanks for sticking with me on this

Thanks for your continuing thoughts...just trying to help out my kid...some help, haha! Its not the aftermarket alarm as it was not even plugged in and I do have the blinking green light. Yes the person at the dealership was not very bright..although maybe later models won't crank..but my 2008 turns off the fuel system (although the fuel pump still hums. I think the immobilizer turns off power to the injectors. Still wonder what happened when I just changed the battery, but wish I could turn off the immobilizer..tried some suggested tricks (on-lock, then on start, unlock doors with key, etc...no luck. I'll likely go with key and manual with key code to a different dealership in the morning...hoping they can help without charging an arm and a leg or needing me to tow my car 20 miles to get it started. Any thoughts?
