2009 fit detailing/sale
2009 fit detailing/sale
My gf has a 2009 Fit, recently taken over by mildew. We hit it with mildew spray, which worked out at first, but it's come back by now, and since the vehicle has been sitting in our garage for months, said mildew has covered most surfaces. It's thin, but widespread, including the seats. Battery died, alternator needs replaced or just cleaned, not sure as of yet but something is necessary there.
We are moving and have until the end of this month to get it sorted. Apparently fixing it all could end up being a couple or several thousand dollars. Thinking about ditching it.
My questions are these:
1. What sort of businesses will take a vehicle with a mildew-covered interior from us, and give us any amount of cash for it?
2. Does anyone have an idea of how much money we could expect to receive? Other than the mildew, the vehicle is in great shape, it's simply not worth it for us right now to spend so much to fix our issues and we'd be better off selling it for whatever we can get.
KBB says the model is worth something between $2,000 and like $10,000. Considering it's condition other than the mildew, I'd say 5 is perfectly reasonable, probably even underselling it. However, factoring in the fact that it will need so much work, I'm not sure what to think.
Apologies for lack of pictures. It's just got an even coat of light mildew over almost every surface of the interior. No corrosion on the battery, no damage or anything terrible like that, we just live in a region where mildew is rather common (this is just a little excessive for that concept). My own vehicle even has a couple small, non-concerning patches.
We're thinking about selling/trading the Fit, and replacing it with a vespa for her, which appears to be only as much as a grand or even less.
Please advise.
