Got My New Fit! (SSM A/T)
After months of lurking here on the forums, I finally got my new Fit! I originally wanted a BOM A/T, but the first one that came in after I got my financing ready to go was a SSM. It's less flashy, but I know I won't get bored with the color (and I think my wife's a little relieved).
I worked with Mike Patton Honda in Lagrange, GA, and I was very pleased with the whole experience. I'd definitely recommend them to anyone who's looking.
The only additions I've done so far were based on things I saw here on the forums. I went and got some thick rubber & carpet floor mats from Wal-Mart (~$25), which trimmed down to fit fine, with no slipping that I've noticed yet. The rubber still smells pretty strongly, but I imagine that will go away in time.
The other thing I did was install a dead pedal. Honestly, I don't know that I would have even noticed the lack of one if I hadn't read about it on the forums, but once I knew to look for it it bothered me. I looked at the Zeta Products dead pedal, but I didn't think I'd be able to justify the expense. I got myself some 1/8" x 1/2" steel bar stock, a flat steel bracket, and a piece of sheet aluminum and fabricated one that uses the same attachment points as the Zeta pedal. I still need to cover it up a little to make it pretty, but for $4 in materials and a couple hours of tinkering, it works well enough for me as it is.
All in all, I'm very pleased with the Fit so far. The dealership gave me a new civic to use as a loaner after I gave them my deposit until the Fit came in. The interior of the Civic was fancier (not what I'm used to in a Civic - my last one was a '95, I think), but the Fit is more comfortable for me and more fun to drive.

Welcome to the Fit family! Yup I did the same thing with a mat for the cargo area that you cut to fit but the rubber smell was so bad and took away from the new car smell that I had to get rid of it. Ended up getting the all weather mats, cargo cover, cargo mat, wheel locks and chrome exhaust pipe finisher from the Honda dealership getting 15% off each item and free installation! Enjoy your new car - it just makes the fun factor of driving 150%

Congratulations on finally getting your Fit! Nice to see another GA one! I've had mine about three months and have added the cargo tray & cover, all season floor mats, as well as some other "eye candy" items.
