A new Jazz owner... soon

Hi all,

Thought I'd introduce myself. I'm a 30-something from Plymouth, England, and everyone thinks I'm mad because I'm soon going to trade in my BMW 328i for a shiny new Jazz 1.4 DSI Sport.

My first car, many years back, was the original mini, and the Jazz just reminds me so much of the 'spirit' I enjoyed so much - moreso than the new BMW minis.

I have a test-drive on Saturday, and unless there's something very wrong there, I'll be placing my order for the cvt-7 sunroof variation.

Anyway, that's my "Hi" !

Michael.

Congrats on a possible purchase and with the rising cost of Petrol, I could see why you are easily willing to give up the Bimmer. We(The Americans) are awaiting word from Honda America on when the FIT will be released across the pond. At this point right now, all dealers will be getting their 2006 stock in shortly so I'm assuming it will be released as a 2006.5 or 2007 model. No media advertising as of yet, we could possibly see the release of the FIT on national media on Super Bowl Sunday like they did with the release of the Del Sol in 1993.

Hi sr20jet.

I checked your current ride - before my bimmer, I had a Nissan 200sx S14 !!

It was an amazing car, and great fun (although I often wished it had traction control fitted, for town driving), but unfortunately it cost me too much... I blew the first engine (I think it was already fried when I got it), and spent over £4000 having a custom built engine put in, as Nissan would charge the same for a standard engine. This was great for a while, but then other things started breaking and I just didn't have the cash reserves to keep fixing it, so it had to go - a very sad day.

I've decided now that I'll settle for a fun little car for journeys and fuel consumption, and then once or twice a year pay for a track day in a sports car, to get my adrenalin rush

Of course, I'll probably 'pimp' the Jazz as time goes on, just to make it feel even more special.

Michael.

I'm surprised at my ownership of my 200SX, it's been very reliable and easy to maintain. My past car ownership have been VW's, 7 in all. Right now, my car is under the knife getting both front axles replaced(95K miles). If, and when, the FIT is released here in the US, I'll be decide on what my Nissan future will hold. This is all depending if I'll be able to pay insurance on both cars. If I do decide to keep my 200SX, an engine swap for either a SR20DET or SR20VE is in the works.

And yes of course, the FIT will be accessorized with the good stuff.
