I've been through a LOT of vehicles in my driving life... just could never seem to find the perfect vehicle for me. I thought my previous car was it (2000 Saab 9-3 convertible), but like others I'm starting to accept that gas is going nowhere but up for the foreseeable future, and I also got a chocolate lab puppy who is getting quite large and now refuses to get in the Saab.

So, here I am with a new Blaze Orange 2008 Fit Sport A/T and I am impressed and happy. First off, I have been adamantly against automatic transmissions since I had an old 1992 Pontiac Sunbird with one, but after driving the Fit and playing with the paddle shifters I was pleasantly surprised and it appears the efficiency of ATs has gotten much better these days. Good thing because this is the only new Fit I could locate in my area! Secondly, I had not seen a Honda that caught my attention in a long time (excluding the S2000, which is unrealistic for me) until the new Civic Si came out. Besides that, I'd been a passenger in a couple previous-gen Civics and they were utterly plain boring to me inside and out. The Fit has totally changed my mind about Honda.

Kodiak (my pup) has no problem hopping right in and curling up on the floor when I put the back seat bottoms up, and it's much more stable down there for him. I also commute 40 miles one way to work so that was the other motivating factor. I was considering the Versa as well because of the bluetooth stuff, but the Honda just drives so much better and is so much more flexible that it was a no-brainer.

Today I just stuffed an elliptical machine, weight bench, and several dumbells that I am selling to somebody at work into the Fit, and all I had to do was take the top part of the handles off the elliptical. Incredible.

Anybody else have dogs/pets and find the Fit perfect for that?

Congrats and welcome! Nice color choice. BOM is as rare as TW.
Do you have any plan for your ride?

 

I don't plan on doing anything to it in the near future. I put in the floor mats and I think that will be about it, though I'll definitely be paying attention to others' experiences with mods and such. A friend of mine has been restoring a '73 240Z but wants to get out of it so I'm taking that over, and I'm pretty sure most of my time/money will be focused on that!

 

That's a classic right there! Wish I own one.
