About to go from an S2000 to a Fit have some questions
Hello All,
I have to sell my S2000, as I was an idiot and got a DUI and cannot afford the insurance on it. Anyway, I am about to buy a Fit and have a few questions. If anyone owns a high performance car and a Fit I would especially appreciate their advice.
1. As the Fit does not have a LSD do you recommend installing one?
2. What is the best bang for the buck mod for the Fit? For example on the S2000, changing the final drive ratio is the best bang for the buck.
3. I have heard that the Fit does not have the best braking power, do you recommend upgrading the rear drums to disc brakes?
Thanks for you help!

Will,
Sorry to hear you've got to get rid of the S2000. I never had one, but lusted after them for a looonnnngggg time. If you try to drive the Fit like your S2000, you'll probably be disappointed. Yes, it light-weight, peppy and extremely fun to drive, but you'll be longing for more power, grip and balance every time you step into it. There are threads here about super chargers, brakes and probably even LSDs, but I doubt that any (or ALL!) of these will give you what you're looking for. Why not drive your Fit stock for a predetermined amount of time.....3 to 6 months maybe, and let your expectations adjust to what the car has to offer? Then, if you still are aching for more, you can start dropping cash on the Fit. You might just discover that the Fit is pretty damn good car just as Honda delivers it. Modding is fun and certainly can be addictive, but I suspect trying to get a Fit to feel more like an S2000 could ultimately be an exercise in futility.
Just my thoughts....

I had a Fit and a S2000, recently got rid of the S for another Fit. LSD I would say is one of the best mods for the car. Suspension mods on the car will really set it off. LSD, Coilovers, wider wheels and you will have your self a pretty fun little car.
You just got to love the S2K - my cousin has one and I love that thing. Yup you are going to be stepping down in performance and handling mods will be the one that will most likely make you happy. Let us know what you end up and post up some pictures - cause we want to see them. Sorry about your DUI -

>1. As the Fit does not have a LSD do you recommend installing one?
yep, if you do any hard cornering you'll need it. the open diff is pretty annoying.

tires. definitely needs better tires. if you get the 09, just keep the suspension stock and get better tires.
>3. I have heard that the Fit does not have the best braking power, do you recommend upgrading the rear drums to disc brakes?
you can, but it's not so much the braking power that's lacking. it's the over sensitive abs... (unless you're talking about racing app) better tires will yeild you much better braking performance because your abs will not need to activate.
