New here *with pics!*

Hey all,

I have had this car for a few weeks now, and I am finally getting around to posting my introduction. I have been lurking these forums since before I made the purchase and really enjoy this place.

I purchased a new off the lot 2009 Civic EX Sedan a few months back, and right around the 4,000 mile mark this happened..

A lady that lives down the road from me backed out onto a main road in her suburban and there was no way of getting around her. They totaled the car out, so it was time to go back to the dealership and look for something else!

My first choice when I went in and bought the civic was the Honda Fit and my wife said, "Absolutely not!" so on our 2nd trip we were looking to replace with another civic. Needless to say, we ended up purchasing a 2010 Sensation Blue? Fit Sport 5-speed.

Also, I made a quick stop at walmart on the way home and this happened..

We just hit 1,000 miles on this thing and I absolutely love it! I am thinking about adding a Turbo to it next year, just because it is borderline too slow for my taste I am averaging 33mpg right now around town and that is awesome with these gas prices..

Nice choice of color and transmission - same as mine and I love it! I'm a little surprised you think it isn't sporty enough, do you rev it high when you accelerate? 4,000+rpm is where the fun is at.

You live in one of the prettiest parts of the state so I'll bet you like to drive around a lot... They only dents in my car came from the Wal-Mart parking lot but were superficial grocery cart dings.

Atmos: I drive the car pretty conservatively actually..I usually shift at max around 3k rpms, and that is mainly when I am pulling out onto a 50+ mph speed limit road and need to get up there. Otherwise I am looking at probably around 2k shifts..

Coyote: There are some awesome roads out here for sure. Before I had my civic I had a modded 2003 SVT Focus and loved to take the back roads with my wife. This car handles better than I expected in stock form, and suspension work is definitely in the near future as well. Also, I have deemed Wal-Mart as the place to go if you want to get your car dinged up. My Focus got several of its dings from there as well.

In support of what Atmos said, these little jewels come to life just a hair below 4000 RPM and Hondas love to rev..... Light weight wheels and tires along with Swift Mach Sport springs made a big difference in acceleration and handling on my GD3 car.

Coyote: How bad does the MPG suffer at those RPM ranges and what is RPM cut off? Thanks again for the replies.

My car is the old GD3 model and I think there is a little bit of difference in gearing but I'm not sure how much.... When my car was still stock I was getting 37 to 39 MPG at 70 to 80 MPH which is just at and slightly above 4000RPM in 5th gear.... The rev limiter is at 6800 RPM which is 80 MPH in 3rd on a stock engine without an ECU reflash which raises the limiter to 7200 RPM...

I just took the car into town to the restaurant to grab some dinner and see the wife and went a little rough on it in some areas. It definitely does feel a lot more alive above 4000 RPM...Now I just have to break myself from wanting to shut it down into 6th gear, which so happens to be reverse on the Fit lol

Thumbs up

That's awesome! Glad you are feeding your Fit some rpms, they really need them or they will starve! But alas, you will see your mpg dip a bit. But that's OK, life is too short to drive conservatively all the time.
