Looking to buy a 2012 in 2 Weeks!
Hi my name is BK. I am planning on buying a 2012 Honda Fit Sport at the end of January. I'm still trying to decide on the color I want and if I should get Manual or Automatic. I look forward to getting to know all the freaks.
This is a wonderful forum with a great amount of information it seems.

Get a manuel
I have a manuel and just returned from a 2k mile trip, not only did I constantly get 40 mpg I did between 75-80 mph the entire time. The only down fall to the manuel is the high rpm's on the highway, but the car never seems stressed at those speeds. With only a limited amount of horsepower on tap, the manuel seems more exciting and fun to drive.
hi guys thanks for the responses. I've driven a manual pick up truck for 20 years and really like it but I'm about 90% im going to get an automatic. I test drove a manual 2 days ago and did not like the engagement point on the clutch. My truck engages about 1 inch after I start releasing it and i really never have to lift my heel off the ground where as the Honda Fit 2012 clutch seemed like it had a higher engagement point. I felt my whole shoe/foot come off the floorboard before the clutch engaged. I did feel that the manual had more zip and get up and go and i do realize that i could easily adjust to the Honda clutch within a week but i feel like I'm more of a cruiser type dude now. I don't see myself burning around the turns and gassing it all over town anymore. I'm kind of lazy now too and maybe just chilling out while driving is the right road for me. Most importantly, my wife does not know how to drive stick. She has her own car but I'm not so sure im into teaching her how to drive manual and i need someone to drive me home when i've been drinking and blazing. Also we are planning on having a kid soon and I feel it may be less to think about to have an auto with a screaming kid in the back seat.
Maybe those paddle shifters on the 2012 sport will suffice for me. WHat I worry about with the auto is that I will have higher repair costs on the tranny years down the line and I am worried I may always think : "wow i wonder what this car would have been like with the manual." I feel like automatics are for old people, commuters, and people who are not really into driving but I may have to suck it up and just roll with the auto. Hope i'm not too dissappointed. Still debating.........

Manual all the way. Get them while you still can! Lol. I had to get my car from out of state to get my color/transmission choice in a sport. The guy is like "the auto has paddles" and I asked "does it have a clutch pedal?" he said no, I said "then no thanks" lol. Every car I've owned have been a manual. Wife drives manuals as well. You wanna know what's awesome? I have never had transmission issues! Lol
Manual vs auto is just a personal choice. I can't imagine having a 100ish hp car with an auto. The manual is what makes this car fun, but if you just want to cruise and don't care, I won't hold it against you.
