Future 2012 Fit Sport MT owner
Put down my deposit for a new manual transmission Fit Sport in Polished Metal Metalic. According to my girlfriend's father, a Honda salesman, there were no manuals in the state of Oklahoma so mine will be coming from Dallas, Texas. I should have it by the end of the week. This is my first new car!
Same in the Northeast a manual transmission is almost impossible to get. I had to have my dealer find one and give my choice of 4 colors. Ended up with Malino Red, actually like the color.

Yeah cjecpa, take good care of that paint, wax and protect it regularly.
Congrats on the car St John.
I usually wax the cars monthly. This car is on the two year plan. Is the GD malino red? I see alot of those with no fading. I quess if I keep it there is always carbon fiber wrap.

When I first test drove one at my local dealership the salesman told me that it was next to impossible to find one and basically told me "good luck" when I said I wasn't settling with an AT. I thought he was just trying to sell me what he had available but apparently not.
I did the Edmunds new car inventory search back in May within a 100 miles there was only 3 manual honda fit sport. If I was willing to go farther say to New York City there was more but I was not willing to do that. Also when i called on the car many times it was sold.
Maybe with Honda not importing as many fits and the low number of manual transmission cars maybe my car will retain more value. Then again with everybody wanting automatics maybe not.

However it now appears that dealerships are pretty well stocked up again to where they were back in Dec. 2011 at around 20-30 total. I once again see 2 MT Fit Sports in stock at one dealership.
If I were to guess the ratio of MT's for the US market I would take a stab that 1 in 20 are MT's.
I think you are right went back to Edmunds and it seems that the dealers have more fit's in stock now. Some of the dealers were telling me they were expecting shipments in around now but I was not willing to wait.
Manuals seem a low percentage from all manufacturers my friend even had trouble getting a new BMW 3 series in manual.

Only took my dealership 3 days to get a polished metal 12 manual in for me. I also work at Acura... Maybe that helped. It did come from out of state, but it's all good. Had 132 miles on it when I got it. (pretty sure they drove it here)
Got mine three days after I agreed on the color same thing was driven to the dealership in a swap of vehicles. The one thing I notice black with a manual seems easier to get and this was first time in 12 years that I do not have a black vehicle.
