Saying Hello!

Hey fit freak, I'm on here roaming around hoping to make the Honda Fit our new fun family car. So hopefully I can see one come up for sale in our area in South Florida.

We have an RX8 as our family car at the moment. We missed the the hatchback and the gas mileage. The Fit looks like exactly what we are looking for between my wife and I. A healthy compromise between a car I can mod and play with and my wife will feel comfortable in.

Looking forward to learning more about the Fit.

Welcome to the forum, the manual is fun. I picked my for the same reasons, hatchback, gas mileage and based on reviews fun to drive. Has not let me down.

At first I saw RX8 + family car and but then I realized it's just you and your wife I think hahaha

How long have you had the RX8? How has it treated you?

Funny you say that but actually I have my 2 year old in the back. As well as her 1 and half year old friend that we take care of too. So the Rx8 has 2 car seats in the back. All 4 of us fit comfortably in the 8... but then again the girls cant talk yet... hmmm, Anyway! Yes the 8 has been an absolute dream to drive and I hope to actually own one again someday when it isn't so hard on the wallet. (roughly 14-18mpg) I've only had it for a year but it was just bad timeing for us, I really should have counted the cost of ownership before diving into it. I just really, really, wanted it.

Anyway this is her now...

Just finished test driving a 2013 Fit at the dealership today. It's definitely a huge difference from the 8. I was shocked by how much glass I had around me but wow it was so easy to look all around me from the driver seat. Virtually zero blind spots.

I was also very impressed with how light the car felt. On turns and acceleration. I wasn't too disappointed by the lack of power I mean I was expecting it, but I was more taken back by how smooth the car felt. Center of gravity could be better and body roll needs to go. That little gas meter in the center of the dash didn't like my driving much though haha. My wife also really liked the car and she felt very comfortable in it. We want it even more than before. We'll be buying used though, the hunt continues!

Hey thanks for the info on the RX8, it's good to hear there's more room in the back than I thought. Was considering one for fun later and it'd be nice to fit everyone in once in a while.

Glad you liked the GE8. It does have a bit of body roll, I think the 2012+ is even a little softer than the earlier GEs. Nothing that can't be fixed with some springs and sways if it bothers you, but the roll isn't all that detrimental as long as it doesn't scare you. I preferred how the car handled stock with better tires over how it performs with springs, but the base looks pretty dorky at stock height IMO lol

I think I can get the handling back closer to how it was with a rear sway bar, it doesn't rotate as well with the springs it feels like, idk.

Just rambling.
