doing the maintenance yourself will save you a lot of money vs going to the dealer.

you can buy most maintenance parts off amazon and ebay these days (filters and such). no need to buy parts from the dealer. that alone will save you a bunch.

Definitely always a good idea to work on the car yourself. Invest in the shop manual or manual from Haynes or chilton to help you along the way.
The cars are very easy to work on if you have time and patience.
And this forum is very helpful to find DIY write ups.
Good luck

New member here with a used 2013 Fit Sport Automatic Transmission just bought. Is there an opinion about which service manual is best? I see a Haynes 42030 @ $20 USD and a Chilton 30210 @ $26 USD. Thank you.

BOTH. I find they each have their plusses and minuses but if you have both you can compare pictures and instructions and get a better idea of how some stuff comes apart..

Thanks. I know that YouTube has a lot of videos for servicework, but sometimes I like to have a book to reference. I've already learned a lot just looking around the forum.

I think the official Honda Service Manual is the best choice. A little pricey but a good investment. I agree with hatchpat when it comes to performing maintenance on your Fit; you need the TIME and the PATIENCE. Be careful of the online YouTube videos you see - some are good but some give vague, sometimes even incorrect advice (like the guy replacing the brake pads on a Fit and he didn't put back the brake pad retaining clip).

I ended up buying the Haynes manual and it's typical generic Haynes fare -- worth $20, but not much more. Agreed on the YouTube videos - viewer beware. Some are well done, others gloss over vital aspects and others are a waste of bandwidth.

You'll need a couple of low ramps to assist w/ oil changes, and a floor jack mskes it easy to rotate your tires.
