Unhappy Remove A/C knobs during dashkit install?

So I got my new stereo and Metra dashkit today from Crutchfield. I finally got the whole radio console out of my GD3 Fit, I just need help removing the knobs. The A/C unit is unbolted, but it looks like if I pull the unit off, the knobs will break. I'm pretty sure they just pop off with a flathead or something, I just wanted to make sure what to do on here before I try it (can't be too safe)

Thanks in advance.

Just use your nails and pull straight out. Takes 5 seconds.
