You can go with either one to be honest. It all comes down to your preference.

Do you want in-dash navigation or do you want an extra single din for other things.

Personally i love double dins they look more professional but i dont have a problem with single either the only thing that makes me cautious about double dins are thieves often see those as free goodies as where single dins you can detach and remove for security also the single flip ups usually block the ac vents...summer in sunny so cal is herendous bro...lol

That's true about thieves and the oven summer that we get in socal. But it depends on you like I said. If you want to go with a "custom" cover for your double din you can get the scosche double din kit since because of how it looks.

It all comes down to personal preference and what you want out of your radio. I had a double-din touch screen, but I thought it looked too tempting to thieves, so I went with a single-din that has a flip out screen.. best of both worlds ;-)

Do you get navigation with that as well?

Looks nice, I would never buy something like that through eBay though.

I like the discreatness of the single din, but didn't want to lose the the touch screen so this was perfect..

Definitely more discrete but as your pics show when the screen is open it is blocking the A/C vents

No right answer here just comes down to preference

Exactly, I put the radio below the storage bin to cover up less of the vents but the only time I'm really going to leave it open is for navi. If I'm just driving around town I don't "need" the screen open so if I need the vents I can just leave it closed.

I have decided to purchase a pioneer AVIC-8000NEX for my 07 Sport. I'm mostly looking forward to using escort live with it. This will be the first double din I've ever owned

hmmm interesting topic here...double dins advantage is more to the look it gives that professional almost built in comes with the ride look but here's the disadvantage for double's...on a hot day the sun will directly shine on it unless you put a custom cover for it but when you do that it looks tacky..now to me the big advantage for single dins is you can pull out and bring it with you so you don't have to worry someone will jack it and second the way the single dins flip out it kind of going away from the windshield so it will protect from hot days...

On my previous vehicle - a '96 Civic HX coupe - I had a Denon DCT-950 single din installed, which was awesome. RDS display way before it became popular. Then I hit a deer with said Civic and needed another vehicle.

I got an '08 Sport in '09, used the factory head unit for a year, and didn't want a single din in the Fit. So I had a double din installed - a Pioneer AVIC-U310BT.

So I've gone from single din to double din. Both these units have removable faceplates, which itself is both a plus and minus. Plus: Can remove to deter theft. Minus: Gotta keep track of it.

True story: With the Denon, I got back from a late Friday nite photo shoot for a newspaper on a snowy night, put the faceplate in my coat pocket, and walked from my car to the back door. Somehow the faceplate fell out of my pocket without my noticing and onto the snow. Then we got another foot of snow and I didn't think of it until the next time I needed the car. Shoveled but didn't find it. Finally found it a few days after some snow thawed, about 3 ft. from the back door, still working fine since I kept it in its original hard case. "The Sounds of Silence" in heavy rotation until I found it.

@xLIONH3ARTx what did you go with? Can you recommend a good head unit?

Sorry for being off-topic. I'm looking for a good stereo and can't make my mind up which one is the best.

There are so many aftermarket stereos that it's hard to find a good one. Many of them have one digit difference in their name. Anyways I've been reading reviews on the nets and they are all hype. Most of them downplay the negatives and hype features like 7" as if it would be that important. I've found a different blog and I've set my heart on the atoto a6. The thing I liked about this blog is that it says it how it is. No sugar coating no BS. This a6 review is a bit critical. It has highlighted some flaws that put me on the fence. What do you say?

Any tips?
