'Fog" night lights?

'Fog" night lights?
OK, so my eyes are getting old, but I'd feel safer if I could insert effective low-level lights into the space reserved for 'fog' lights. I'm not interested in 'jazzing' (pun) the car, just getting better light on the nearby road when the headlights are on.
Questions: 1) is this practical? 2) would it be effective? 3) what would it cost? 4) where could I get it done (near Cincinnati)?

You'll probably want to go aftermarket. The OEM's are pretty dismal and I've got a bright and high quality LED bulbs. The pattern output is low but not very wide at all. I do have yellow lens tint with yellow bulbs, so obviously it isn't going to bright. The yellow color wavelength cuts through the fog better than white.
I am still thinking about using a proper HID fog system to give me better light pattern width and distance with a proper light cut off so as not to blind other drivers.
If you are wondering, I have also upgraded the regular driving lights with a high quality and bright LED system. I am very happy with the light output and cut off so it doesn't blind other drivers. The weakest point? Yup, it's the width of the light pattern because of the OEM reflector. I am also tempted to do an HID retrofit. I have done this before on my Integra (worst headlights ever).
