Wouldn't a blue-ish bulb be counterproductive for foglights?

Ok well:
First off, light brands that call themselves "performance" lighting manufacturers but sell light bulbs that are physically tinted blue/purple/whatever are complete garbage.
PIAA, APG, LOW GLOW, POLARG, blah blah...they may LOOOOOK brighter and bluer but they are actually emitting LESS LIGHT especially if they are rated at the same 55/60w factory draw.

So don't even start to kid yourself that they are going to be brighter.

To be VERY honest:
They are damn cool looking
BUTTTTTTTT
They suck at night
Die much faster
Are wayyyyy more expensive than they have to be
and since you live in Cali.....probably illegal.

I recommend you get some yellow fog light bulbs cause at least they look cool...
but even they are useless as far as improving performance.

just giving you the heads up....
try Optauto.com
texonstore.com
automotivelighting.com

oh and Rallylights.com if you want some high draw/ high output stuff.

Well.....

There is a human perception of them being better in foul weather, and having driven older French spec cars with yellow headlamps, I *thought* they were better in snow, rain, fog, etc, even tho you are 100% correct that performace is equal to less than a stock halogen bulb of the same wattage/type.

I have some old "yellow sock" H4s here at the house that are older than any car I own now, and probably a few posters on this forum.

...and yes, yellow film went on my Fit's foglights, for stone protection and nostalgic reasons I guess .

Rallylights has some neat stuff (and a good selection of bulbs) and if I start needing large fog/driving lights instead of selling my old ones on eBay, I would probably go with them. My father may have (he was going to) bought a Hella aux backup light from them, but otherwise no actual dealings/endorsement.
