LED Tails For Father's Day

So my first weekend back from Iraq AND I get some sweet LED tails for Father's Day.

Install went pretty smooth thanks to all the DIYs already on here. I knew exactly what tabs to trim and where all the secret screws are at. Didn't remove the rear bumper and I also swapped the turn and reverse bulbs without extending any wiring.

Might change the reverse and turn bulbs over to LEDs later. Fitment took a little 'massaging' but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Here are the pics. Sorry they're not all that great. I will take some more later tonight if anyone is interested.

Hey you have any issues with those like I ran into? When I step on the brakes the dash lights and front sidemarker lights come on! You have an 07 or 08? Sucks I really liked those lights too but I will be sending them back. Also the drivers side one I had didnt fit without grinding off some of the top of the light.

Now I am feeling like hell, all I got my dad was a couple of shirts and a book. Mind you his Dodge van is beyond style help. Your family must know you well, looks like you already have the perfect shirt. Does it come in a "Mike" version? My buddy is in the Mikes of America club, he'd get a kick out of it.

Solid looking ride. Fire up some full car pics when you have some down time.

Bloody clean and organized garage as well. Lesson in there for some of us.

Cheers from Canada!

Actually, YES. I had the exact same problem. The reason is because of the way the LED boards are wired. With no lights on, you get in the car and press the brake and not only will your brake lights come on, but voltage is also routed (backwards) to your running light circuit.

How do you fix that?

A couple of .99 cent diodes soldered inline to your running light circuit.

I'll try and get those night time pictures tonight. If anyone is interested in a detailed how-to, PM me your email address and I'll send you my schematic.

Looks good... I'm getting Australian side trim for father's day...(currently on order). I got my dad a benchmade knife & a nasa 50th anniv. book. I'd like a set of smoked lights that are similar.

Here is what they looked like when I had them on, to give you guys another look at them. May just have to re-order them now since this is an easy fix!
