Zeta Fog Review

Pro: FAST SHIPPING, Oem Fitment onto the usdm bumper.
Con: 1.WTF NO TEMPLATE!
2. NO instructions on wiring.
3.Housing was incredibly scratched up.
4.WIRES DO NOT MATCH UP
5.Splicing and cutting required
6.Switch does not fit onto the panel

Bought the zeta fog light kit somewhere around 90$ and it arrived at my front door within 4 days. First thing that pissed me off was that there was no fog light template that you could use to drill the holes on the bumper. Second there was no instructions on installing the foglights. I called up zeta support and they gave me the oem honda fit foglight instructions along with the diy from fitfreak. I think the zeta support group was terrible at helping me because the oem honda fit instructions ARE THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE FROM THE ZETA WIRING KIT (BEWARE!!!!!) Problems i ran into was that the wire under the driver side head light did not match up with the wire it was supposed to match with. Eddie had to splice the wires in order for current to run through. Another problem was that the zeta wire kit had one wire (white tip, with red wires) was the main power line wire and it didnt fit where it was supposed to fit. Dan (gimme) had to cut the tip of the connecter and find another port to power electricity through that red wire. Another problem was that the switch that came with the kit was too fat so when pressing the button, it would get stuck in the panel. After i had eddie take a look at that, the switch slowlys pushes outward but not smoothely and occassionally gets stuck. Another problem was that the wire that connects to the driver side foglight was very short, eddie had to re loop it and turn the bulb in order for it to connect to the wire. Mounting the foglight was very easy with the help from matt (random). So all in all, i say do not buy the zeta fog light for all you base models. Zeta Fog Light kit is not what it advertises.

I've got the same problem with the wiring.. Can't make heads or tails out of the Zeta kit, as it's clearly not the same as the Honda OEM one.

Another fitfreaker posted the same problem. It may be this kit is only good for getting replacement housings. Is it just a matter of trimming the switch a little bit?

Hope you can get the wiring to work. Can you post a picture of the wiring - connectors etc? I am surprised the wiring doesn't remotely resemble the factory kit - there are only a handful of connections involved - not a lot of options. As a minimum, you should be able to plug into the single wire behind the driver headlight. I suspect there is no relay and no interconnect with the headlight switchs so you only need to find a place to connect the switch into the fuse panel to get power.

Zeta needs to be responsible for what they sell but they sell a lot of other items and many have had good luck with them.

+1 rep for trying this!!

hey you didn't think i already tried that? they told me two things. DYI FROM HONDA DEALERSHIP AND DYI ON FITFREAK.NET. the problem is the dyi from the oem honda dealership is that its for the oem wiring and fogs... the zetas wiring is completely different, the button is fat, me and azncarbos worked on it all night and the wires do not match up with the oem wiring. the dyi on fitfreak.net needs to be remade, its very vague. They are gonna call back with a specialist to guide us today so ill update from there. Impulsive is having the same problem as i am so i highly doubt my wires they sent me are messed up.

Wow. I'm very sorry to hear that. Zeta has had to remove some items from their offerings in the past because the results were not as claimed by the actual manufacturer. Your lights and wiring must be from off shore, and Angelo probably believed claims that you have proved are not true. My advice was well intentioned, and a lot of members complain here without talking with the manufacturer or vendor first. The least that you can expect from Angelo/Zeta is a refund. My reply to you was not intended to be critical. I had been exchanging replies with a complainer on the suspension forum who can't stop complaining about a simple rear sway bar.

Good luck to you, and I'm sorry for your extra work.
Dave

well we are gonna wait for that call from the specialist from zeta, and then see if he can guide azncarbos through the wiring cuz he has my wiring kit right now but the claims about the button is true for my product, it does not fit once pressed. i have to stick a plastic and put the button half way in so when i push it, the whole button will not get stuck cuz the plastic part will prevent that.

i dont think i can get a refund cuz i tinted the fogs... lol

Eh, if the product is represented as working in your Fit, and it does not, I will bet that Angelo will do whatever it takes to make this right. Tinted lenses nor not.

sounds like it might be easier just hooking up a new sw and relay and run
your own wiring.

but from the sounds of it, you might be better off getting a completely
aftermarket PIAA or something equivalent and mount it in a non-OE
location.

yeah, epic phail on the r and d for this kit. plugs that don't mate, a mysterious single red wire that has no home. Eddie spliced into the factory wiring for the front end of the car. I cust the single wire on the interior side, and just pluggen it into an available spot on the fuse block.

i think one of the biggest problems with zeta, atleast from Evan has said, they seem to be clueless themselves. They kept directing him to a DIY here that really didn't help. basically because NONE of zeta's plugs mated with the factory ones.

Hello:

Let me first start off by saying I am sorry for the problem "kenchan" had with the installation. We have been buying these lights from a distributor on the west coast who is importing them from Asia.

Of all the sets we sold (less than a dozen), we have had only a couple of calls regarding the installation. I have referred customer to Fitfreak.net for assistance.

Since I saw this post, I contacted my supplier and here is their response:

"We have sold many of these without any problem. Did he have them installed by a professional?"

This is not an acceptable answer. I was lead to believe that these were factory, direct replacement. Obviously, this is not the case.

kenchan, if this was such a major problem, why did you not call me again? I would have taken the lights back!

Now I have people who are tarnishing the Zeta name for just a few dollars in profit. It's not worth it!

I will still sell the lights to customers who want a less costly alternative to the factory OEM's. I have added notes on the item page to alert potential customers to be aware of the amount of work needed to install.

That's a reasonable response.

BUT, what would you have done for him with taking back the fog lights? how would that help the fact that he, at that time, had gaping holes in his bumper now. It was more of a situation that was "i already cut my bumper, i have to install these." I am sure he can answer you better, but that was the situation when he showed up to my house on Sunday.

ha?

ummm... might want to read the posts again cause it wasn't me
that bought the lights from you. it was Evan_2k

If you look at my sig, my car is a Sport and runs factory fogs...
perhaps caring more to detail might help your product line?
