I might get some clear film on mine just to protect it from rocks,

The only thing you have to watch is a lot of films will burn and leave you with a mix of orange fading to yellow color instead of the nice JDM look you want.

You can see from my sig that the Piaa's I have give off a hint of yellow. There is no film on my fogs.

 

I decided Ill try bulbs first (easiest to install i guess). I will be buying/installing today after work... pics coming soon

 

Film is really easy to install, you don't even have to cut it! As long as one side is adheasive or has strong static cling you just pop the fog out, press it flat over the surface getting all the bubbles out and then fold the excess around the light assembly. It can even be a square sheet and it will be fine. When you pop it back into the shroud housing it hides everything else and all you see is the surface area of the light.

All you need to install either bulbs or fim is a phillips screwdriver and tiny hands Wait, I think there might be a nut you need a small socket to remove the light assembly from the housing... anyway any basic tool kit will be fine.

How much difference between yellow HID fogs vs regular yellow bulb? I'm sure its a lot brighter?

 

regular yellow bulb will burn out a lot faster and might even burn your harness if you dont switch out to a stronger harness

go for hids

i have yellow hids and i love it...even though its green at first before it warms up

 

Not if you get bulbs that draw the same wattage

I got H-11 yellow bulbs last night after work, easy to install (the left one for some reason was a pain:/) They look great...

 

alright i got some yellow bulbs comign in but im in search of yellow film, i might try calling of those authorize dealers of xpel in my area anyone have any luck doing that?

 

i tried the yellow film from HeadlightArmor(around $15), and my stock fogs burned them within 6 months it looked good when they were turned off though, but im now looking to get yellow bulbs

 

where can you get film and what are good film?
i have a shop near me with lamin-x but i read that they burn im looking for xpel but cant find any. please let me know asap

 

I dont think that there is a big difference between one film and another(other than thickness). I think durability will be based more on how well you install them, and maintenance (i heard waxing film after installation improves durability against burns).

 

Using this technique will probably lead to burning film, you have to trim the film a tad smaller so heat as somewhere to go!

 

Film is so cheap, so easy to install and so easy to screw your glass/plastic.

Even a vendor of such film does not recommend them for use with fog lights/lamps.

 

I bought my film from koolkev on here precut i dont remember the price but cheap and fast and good quality film (its thick for better protection)

and I bought my 3k HID fogs from xenith xenons for a great price also and it gives off a very "GT" le mans yellow fogs and ive ran them for 6 months now with no burning and great look and easy install on the hid's cuz they dont require external power but have the ballast
