Opening Headlights Help!

Hey guys,
Trying to get my retro fit done and I've hit a snag.

The oven at the house here is too small for me to fit the headlights in (damn things are massive). I've been trying with the heat gun for about an hour and it's doing more damage to the plastic than it is to the perma-seal. I may go back to my other house and see if I can fit them in there, but if that doesn't work I'm not sure what to do.

Any suggestions on what to do next?

I HAD THE SAME ISSUE!
what i did was set the oven to about 270 and left the door open. it got the job done but you have to work quickly and keep throwing them back in. just be careful, since the oven is hotter i melted part of the housing >.<

I have not tried this and don't know what effect it would have on the plastic, but how about pouring Goo Gone or an adhesive remover in the gap and seeing if it help?

^ that's not gonna help, the only way to really open them is to heat the adhesive.

I was wondering if 3M automotive adhesive remover would help. I've used that for window sealant, weather trim, etc. I understand what you are saying though. I've done lights in the oven also and it works great.

Would your lights fit in your dishwasher? You could advance the dial to the dry cycle. Just trying to come up with ideas.

LOL at the dishwasher Idea. Fitted I think i'm going to try your idea at my other house as I may be on call tonight for work.. Gafit the goo gone won't work on the permaseal and it supposedly eats plastic from what I've heard. Not sure on that but I don't really want to risk it. I'm at the point where I want to just order the black back part from CFLhonda and cut that shit off with my dremel tool. Definitely not as easy as I thought it was going to be

Just got back to my other house. All the neighbors on my street are out of town or not home. Pizza place told me it was unsanitary. Lol. Gonna try the oven method in about 20-40 minutes depending on how long getting the bumper off takes.

Used the oven with it cracked open. 15-20 minutes @ 250* and they peeled right open. Just sealed them back up gonna go finish wiring and aim them within the next 2 hours or so. Trying to get everything cleaned up.

Ok... This sucks... I just realized my passenger side headlight the adjuster screw stripped the plastic nut... It holds still but I have to adjust it down by pushing it and then I can turn the screw to make it come up. Anyone have any suggestions? The driver side is fine.

Also the bulb covers, I couldn't get to the screw with any of my screw drivers. So I just went balls to the wall and cut em off with the dremel. Thank God the HID's work.
