Question Fog Lights

So today while in my driveway, I noticed that my drivers side fog light is smashed on my new 16 Fit. I can say for certain the culprit was the sand/salt we use on our highways, but it's still a disappointment seeing as I haven't even hit 4000km on the ODO . Obviously my warranty doesn't cover it ( I called to make sure ) so now I'm stuck with the bill for the $108 assembly plus labour. Is this a common issue on the Fits? I had a Corolla for 6 years and never once had an issue like this regarding the fog lights. I didn't touch the light, but from looking at the lens it looks like it is glass and not plastic? Are there any suggestions on how to protect the fog lamps so I don't have to pay for a new one every 3500Km?

TL;DR Fog light smashed, What can I use to protect them?

Google Headlight Armor...that might help.
I have to say, on my 2010 Honda Fit, I woke up one day and both lights were cracked. Have no idea when or "how" it happened. They are pretty vulnerable.

Now have a 2016, .....and thanks for reminding me, I might want to get some protection on those lights before it happens again.
Or even check....knock on wood, I hope it hasn't already happened.

Yep. As fitchet said, headlight armor or laminx can help. A more expensive alterative would be to replace the units with Morimotos or other LED lamps with polycarbonate lenses. You'd also gain better light output of course.

Chalk it up to dumb luck. I've got 52k miles and they are still intact.

Those headlight armor might help but let's be honest it's just a film that sticks on.

Great idea! Did it in the middle "hole" of the bumper to protect A/C radiator and pipes. Didn't think of dong it also on the foglights. Will do when I replace the cracked one that is on my Fit.
Good job!
