Repair OEM Shift Boot

Did this just for the hell of it to see if I could operate my mom's sewing machine. Came out very well, I think. OEM boot was damaged (in less than 35k miles) during stewardship of original/prior owner. Took it apart to use as pattern and purchased $5 worth of material. Figured it would take a couple of tries but I seem to have gotten it on first try. Sewing up new boot after cutting materials took about 10 minutes but tearing apart old boot carefully and ironing old material flat took about 45 minutes. Was it worth it? Well, this boot material is superior to OEM and I now know how to operate, albeit to a limited extent, a sewing machine. Ha!

OEM original damaged boot.

Original damaged boot.

Newly constructed boot in background; old boot panels in foreground.

Newly constructed boot inside view (prior to stapling tabs).

Newly-constructed boot in place. Now, need to install leather steering wheel wrap. Probably leave parking brake lever as is.

Off topic Q: I realized before posting that I inadvertently posted one photo twice but could not figure out how to delete repeat (and I did not want to go through trouble of deleting all photos and reposting). Is it possible to delete photos from post once uploaded?

That is a fantastic job. Prepare for lots of requests from others with torn/worn boots!

I sprayed mine with that Flex Seal stuff, after pulling off the loose pieces. Looks good and so far, it's held up.
