auto door lock
I'm GLAD the Fit doesn't do that.
Alright. Just did a quick check of the Helm, and I've come to the conclusion that the best place to tackle this would be from behind the dash. I mean, you could try to pull wires from the ignition switch, the door switch and pins, but everything you need is connected to the gauge control module, which is built into the dash.
You can build your own relay setup, like on these diagram that aznguyen316 linked us to on the12volt.com, or you might be able to purchase a ready made relay module and just attach the wires needed, like this one posted by sdnds. There's probably other modules out there as well.
Anyways, the diagram on the12volt.com is fairly straight forward. I'm not going to give step-by-step directions, nor will I test this on my Fit since my aftermarket alarm already does this. I will only give you the location of the wires you need. If you can't understand it or the linked diagrams, I suggest you buy a module or do not attempt this mod at all.
So on we go...
First, follow this link (requires IE 5.0 or higher and PDF reader) to see how to remove your gauge cluster. Once you're in there, you'll see three connectors. We'll call the center 20 pin connector "Connector A", the smaller 14 pin one "Connector B", and the large 40 pin one "Connector C".
Now the way to find a specific pin number on these connector is to look at them straight on with the locking tab on the top. For example, on "Connector B", it would look something like:

| 8| 9|10|11|12|13|14|
Anyways, I'll give you the connector followed by the pin number for each wire (i.e. B11 means Pin #11 on Connector B). But I'll also give you the wire colour to make it easier.
Fused 12v+ ---> A1 (wht/red)
Ignition 12V+ ---> A2 (yel)
Driver's Door Master Lock ---> C9 (wht/grn)
Driver's Door Master Unlock ---> C10 (wht/blu)
Driver's Door pin switch ---> A14 (grn)
Those are all the wires you'd need according the the12volt.com's auto lock/unlock diagrams. There's also a wire that represents the rest of the door pins [A13 (pur)], and another for the hatch [A16 (grn/red)]. But I think using the driver side door pin is sufficent to prevent accidental lockout. This is probably what also prevents my aftermarket alarm from auto-locking the doors if my door is still open when I turn on the ignition (Thanks aznguyen316, I tried what you said today and it worked as you said).

Mine now does this. I added the factory extra alarm that Honda charges 4-5 hundred dollars. The alarm is already installed but they disable it if you don't pay the extra. Anyway, I took it back to the dealership after 2 weeks because the green light that comes with the additional alarm flashed constantly. When they reprogrammed the alarm I started the car and the doors locked. When I shut off the car the door unlocked.
I've decided to add the auto-unlock feature, but skip the auto-lock as I don't find it as necessary b/c I tend to lock the door myself when I rest my arm against the door push thing near the window. Also the auto-unlock seems a lot easier lol. Looks like just 2-3 wires! I just don't understand the capacitator and resistor..guess I'll ask the friend employees at Radio Shack =)

Here is a link to an aftermarket device that works on the driver seat belt. When you put on the seat belt all doors will lock, and when you take the seat belt off all doors will unlock. Not much detail on the web page on installation.

Personally, I prefer my doors to lock when I place the transmission (A/T) in drive and then unlock when I put it in park. If this thing works like I envision, I would be able to power it off the "D" & "P" lighting circuits.
Once I get some feedback from this company, I may just go for it and see what I can do.

Under your dash, in the center, below the steering column is an added on little box with a green LED on the front of it. It looked like he put a piece of plastic about the size of a pencil eraser in the middle of it then pushed the alarm button a few times, turned the key on and off, the put thw driver window down then up. I never did get a good look at the part he put in. That was it but it ended up he did it wrong and I had to take it back to Honda nad have the alarm guy reset it.

I've got a 2011 Fit Sport MT and *really* wished the car would unlock when I shut it off.
It auto-locks fine, just no auto-unlock.

BTW... this thread is for the GD model (2007, 2008)... which has different options from the GE model (2009-2011+)
Awesome, must have brain-farted when skimming through looking for it. I assume I just skip the steps dealing with an A/T (like putting in park). Unlocking all doors is what I think I'll want.

In order to switch between "have just the driver door unlock" and "have all the doors unlock" when you turn the car off (or to position I on the ignition), you MUST first turn the entire feature off.
That is to say, you can't simply follow the instructions to set the car in "all doors unlock" if you're already in "driver door only" mode.
You must do "disable door unlocking" first. THEN, you can switch to either mode by following the instructions.

I just tested it out on my car. As mentioned above, my current setting is to unlock all doors. Remember everything must be done as quickly as possible.
First a control check
Got in.
Closed door.
Locked the doors.
Turned key to ON and then back to LOCK.
All doors unlocked.
Turned key to ON
Pressed the unlock button (unlock triggered), but KEPT holding the button until I heard it trigger again (1st at press, 2nd at 5 seconds)
Released the button and immediately took my key out.
Tested it by locking the door, turning the key to ON and then immediately to LOCK: only driver's door unlocked.
Turned the key back to ON
Pressed and held the unlock button until I heard it trigger THREE times (1st on press, 2nd at 5 seconds, 3rd at 10 seconds after pressing).
Released the button ang took the key out.
Tested it again. Locked door, turned key to ON and then back to LOCK. All doors unlocked.
You'll noticed, at no time did I open my door... a key procedure to turning off auto-unlock.
