Window Tint Post your pics
Honestly, I am doing the research right now. I figure that there is a difference between store bought DIY tint and Pro Shop Tint, so I am trying to figure out what is best... or close to it.
Right now I am looking at TintDude.com's Window Tinting Forum where tint guys talk shop. There seems to be a split decision on whether the Fit is easy to tint or hard. Hopefully I find a shop that thinks its easy. heheh.

This seems to be the best (and most agreed upon) response on what the "Best" Tint is
... Now just have to find a good shop!
we have a registry for you to try that list members from this site, some could be in your area. you came to the right place if you want several opinions, that you will get. As a consumer, understand that there a couple of factors that play in other than film type. Any seasoned professional will carry a good quality film. A shade tree hack wont care what you get and wont have many options for you. Keep that in mind.
Dont get caught up on brand name, leave that to the installer. Most of us have used darn nere all GOOD types of film and consitantly use what works good for our particular installment procedures. I would,as would most here, suggest a metallized film simply because of a high endurance, professional look and a very good warranty. When you vist an installer he will show you different shades , colors and percentages. GO LEGAL, dont pressure a professional to tint illegaly, as he WONT (or at least if he's a professional). Trust him/her, listen to they're follow up care instructions and if you feel your having problems post install, give them a chance to either rectify or explain the situation.

Tint laws pretty much vary with every police officer. I've had one tell me you can put tint on the front windows as long as you can see inside, and I had another tell me all tint is illegal on the fronts. Then we had another tell us tint is illegal on the back windows if you can't see through it. These were all Pennsylvania officers. Who knows.
Which of these tints posted are metal-based films, and which ones dye-based films? Is there much difference in the look?
I went to a place in my city today, and here are some things I was told by the salesperson - hopefully it is all true, but it is certainly in favour of the expensive option, so maybe he was playing me:
Dye based film CAD $150 (LlumarFilm ATR product, which according to their website is actually combo dyed/metal)
-get the "black look"
-will fade some over time
-may have troubles seeing through it at night
Metallic film CAD$300 (LlumarFilm Platinum Plus)
-no fading, but no black look
-"shiny" look? I'm not sure how it would look
-no problems at all with driver's visibility at night
-still get good hiding of what's going on inside
-better heat reflection
Both of these were offered with lifetime warranty for the original purchaser, and it was suggested I go with 35% on all windows, with 20% for the rear windshield (legal limit here is 35% for front windows, not restriction in rear).
Thanks for the advice in advance!

Mine is metallic film and 20% all around.
I got 20% all around.

In California tinting the front windows at all appears to be illegal (CHP -- Street Legal).
The rule of thumb I've heard from most places seems to be that if they can see you through the side windows you're fine, otherwise you're likely to get ticketed. That is the only reason I didn't go for the 5%.

If you were anywhere near North Dakota, i would say to come by the place where i work at. Tintmasters Motorsports 2006 Been in the upper midwest for over 13 years now. the fit is a easy vehicle to tint, have not had any issues with the 5 or 6 that i have had the pleasure to work on (including mine!!) Anything from remote car starters to tint and suspension. We do it all here. If you are near the Minneapolis area we have a store there.
