Pioneer AVIC Install

I'm considering the new AVIC-S3 headunit. Is there an external GPS antenna that has to be mounted for the nav function? If there is, did you install an antenna and can you supply details?

yea i installed a antenna center of the dash... will get a pic when time permits.

Are you guys talking about the AVIC D-3 and not the S-3?

I meant D3 not S3. I can't type.

The two things that concern me about a self install are the GPS antenna and the interconnect to prevent playing with the navigation mode while driving. Everything elses seems straightforward.

Any more hints or phots of your double din nav unit installation? I'm interested to see how you set up the GPS antenna and the required video lockout while driving wiring.
