The guys at Tweeter weren't able to get Focal 165A 6 1/2 into the front doors without impeding window. I got 5 1/4 JL components instead.
Don't know if the Focals were just big for 6 /12 or if the door really is made for 5 1/4's instead.

I got the polk db651 in front and back doors of
my base model fit, they are 6.5 inch but not super deep,
they didnt have any trouble installing.
Waiting on the scosche kit to install new head unit,
but these speakers are great improvement - at least 100% better,
they are very efficient, so louder, with lower bass and higher treble
even with factory stereo. Great for a small budget.
I wonder if you can get better speakers for about a hundred a pair?

peace

yeah i got new speakers on all 4 doors. I used Pioneer Premier TS-A631P 6.5" speakers in all 4 doors. The stock speakers are built into the bracket so i cut out the stock speaker from the basket then installed the new speakers into the bracket then clipped the stock speaker bracket back into the door so i didn't put hooles in my door panels.

Kevin I have a question for you about the rear

speakers. I'd like to put them in myself-unlike the 5.25 JL components that I had Tweeter install. Could you explain what I would need to do in order to install a pair of 6.5 Alpine Coax speakers in the rear. I didn't quite follow you when you said you clipped the stock speaker bracket back into the door. Crutchfield said they would include speaker brackets with the Alpines. I'm a complete novice as you can probably tell.
I've got a 10" JL Subwoofer in the rear powered by an Alpine Mono Amp,
a Pioneer 5900ib head unit and an Alpine 4 channel Amp along with the a set of 5.25 JL Audio components in the front doors.
Thanks for your time,
Gregg

Kevin-I found a more detailed account you gave

about your install in another thread so I'm good.
Thanks,
Gregg

check depth, and be sure you use spacers when installing aftermarket speakers...

i've seen lots of other members speakers and they all seem to have 1" metra spacers installed.

You should be able to get anything to fit with enough time, money, and skill. I'm pretty sure that most 6.5" speakers will fit with the correct spacer though.

As I just posted in a different thread, there is an aftermarket speaker bracket available that fits the front and rear doors on the Fit, and provided enough depth for me to install Polk db6500s without impinging on the window glass. The Scosche SAHR6, meant for the Ridgeline, fits the mounting holes of the Fit's door. Note, however, that you still have to drill holes in the sheet metal and screw the bracket down. I also had to trim the plastic ring that surrounds the speaker on the inside of the door skin, so that my thicker, larger diameter replacement would fit.

Those look really good, much better than the ones i got from metra, but then again, the metra are universal, i passed the screws through where the brackets would catch, and i put backplanes behind to grab on to, no holes were made. =D
