The GPS antenna is on top of the dash(in the picture) just behind the windshield. I'm not sure about the VSS wire, I'll have to find out?

Nice! Did your installers end up putting the GPS antenna on the front dash or below the dash (could be there in this picture, not sure)? Did you hook up the VSS wire?

AVIC-D3 & Fit

DMC

I'm still waiting on my kit. Hopefully it will get here this week, since other folks got their's towards the end of last week.

I plan on buying the same Pioneer AVIC-D3 unit. How's it work with the Ipod? I have been unable to find an in store demonstration to really evaluate it with an Ipod hooked up. There is some mention of audio hum on the AVIC411.com site. Doesn't seem to be affecting everyone. Maybe a ground loop problem.

A picture of the GPS antenna location would be helpful.

The VSS wire should be part of the stock radio harness, so hopefully your installer connected it.

Any installation issues or surprises that you might be willing to share with us?

Thanks

I just hooked up my Ipod to it yesterday and everything seems to work fine. I do not hear the "audio hum" that you speak of. It sounds pretty clear to me, even with the stock speakers. Once you switch to the Ipod mode through the stereo, it shows a similiar pic of the same display buttons/screen as the actual Ipod(right side of the Avic screen), so it makes it very easy to use. Here is a pic(obviously not the greatest), but it shows where the GPS antenna was mounted(right up against the winshield, in the center of the dash.

Also, to the best of my knowledge, there were no suprises as far as the installation went. My installer said he had no probs! Hope that helps!

It seems to me the selector knob stickers are black instead of gray. The bezel looks a little gappy around the left edge.

You guys, post up pictures of your deck!!

I think the i-Pod issue isn't too big of a deal unless you are a diehard audiophile. I like avic411 but cmon, we are Fit Freaks and spend our time on Fit forums. Those people are sound nuts and can probably hear a mouse fart with 120db thumping in their ear.

As far as the kit, I think the exposure of the camera may do it some injestices. Just the same, I like it and I don't think anyone will get a factory clone...But this is the next best thing IMO. I will post my install in a week and have lots of pics.
