Playing a CDR of MP33s in Stock Stereo
Howdy,
I would like to burn my favorite MP3's to a disk and play them in my Sport Fit stock stereo. I tried an MP3 disc but the CD player could not load it. I suspect the reason was because the disc was CD-R but the player wants CD+R.
Can anyone offer advice to get a disc full of MP3s going in my Fit? Is there a special encoding that I need to use for the Fit CD player?
Thanks

Theres no such thing as a "cd+r" only "cd-r", and I believe the disc you make must be finalized. Assuming you burned the disc using the burning feature integrated into windows the default is not to finalize. Try getting something like nero or roxio and burning a finalized data cd loaded with all the mp3's you want.

Yes they must be finalized, but some brands just won't play in some radios. It is not a clear cut between cheap and expensive kind. Some cheap ones work great and some expensive ones do not and vice versa.
I am using Google brand with great results. MP3's and WM. I burn them in artist folder since stock sport radio allows it.
Try burning the same set of songs on multiple brands of disc you can get your hands on laying around your house and ask your friends for some.
Eventualy you will find what works best for you with the best compromise between quality and cost.
It would be great if you guys would post what worked for you and what did not. It would be a great help for some members runing into problems.

base vs sport?
Does the base Fit stereo play mp3 cds? I've tried two old mp3 cds and they didn't work. I thought maybe it was the cds but reading the owners manual it gives me the impression the base unit might not play mp3s.

go to Download.com and type in "deepburner". download the deepburner free version.
when you burn the CD, just burn it as a data disc with no multisession. just drag and drop the songs/folders of songs you want into the queue and it will burn them.
i've done this with about 40 CDs and haven't had a problem with playing them on the Fit Sport's CD player. you can even mix up mp3s and wmas and the system can recognize each different one.
