CEL and power steering light after installing NAVI

would anyone be able to help me...after having a eclipse navi unit installed, i now have a check engine light as well as the speedometer not working causing it to not count the miles the car is getting. Along with that i have the power steering light come on and off several times while driving. Could this all be because the speed sensor wire from the unit is not hooked up or does that wire have nothing to do with any of it? and what would cause that power steering light to come on?

check ALL ur fuses under the dash and in the engine bay. also, try resetting the ecu by disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes then plugging it back in. What did u do the VSS sensor? is it just hanging in the back of the dash? make sure it isn't bare and touching some metal n shorting something. did u install it urself? check ur wiring once more. If u took it somewhere, take it back n tell em 2 fix it. Hope it helps.

does the VSS have to be hooked up from my navi to ecu? i think that is why its causing my speedo to not work. and to verify it is a violet/white wire correct? also would you know how does the power steering light come on? nothing was altered to interfere with it. Could it be because i ran my rca cable through under the drivers side panel so its causing a distortion?

no wires were cut...just scoache harness to stock harness and then all color coordinated wires to radio harness. Thats it. No other alterations were made. Did not hook up reverse or speed wires. And now its causing it to do some weird things with speedo and all. I am using eclipse avn 2454 btw sonicsc1.

The Scosche harness has a wire or the speed sensor. If you didn't connect this wire, and it wasn't taped up it may have grounded out behind the dash. It's important to tape up unused harness wires. Not hooking up the speed sensor wire wouldn't affect anything on the vehicle side as it is a signal output from the ECU. If you nav unit doesn't require reverse or speed sensor, then that wouldn't make a difference to the vehicle. I have no idea about the power steering light.
