shelf above glove compt.

Hello,

Does anybody know what the super skinny shelf above but not in the glove compartment is for?

pens/pencils? chapstick? extra straw for starbucks/jamba drink? skinny tampon?
Maybe there is allready a post about this, but I'm new and I haven't seen one yet. If anyone else wants to add to the list of what it can be used for, feel free. I wonder how many things we could come up with.

What fits in that spot? Not much that is for sure - LOL! I currently have a lucky penny I found on the side walk facing up in that slot.

I put my sunglasses there, and usually have a pencil as well. Not much else would fit.

My SanDisk MP3 player fits up there nicely. Add the AUX cable and you're good to go!

It looks like it is for a pen. I was thinking it was a change tray but if you put money there you can see it from outside the car! I am sure some crack head would break into your car within a week.

I find it a totally useless feature personally, worse yet every person who sits in my car has it right in front of them... so it never fails, within 5 minutes the question pops up "What is this shelf for"... seriously.... how the hell should I know! Man I am getting sick of that question. Stupid Honda, design useful features in front of the passenger side so the owner dosn't get bothered for the rest of his life with the same retarded question I can't even answer!

lol, you know the panel right above the tiny shelf part and right under the dash airbag part. . .

if only it could open up like a cover, with the latch hidden where the shelf is (just like the licenseplate trunk latch), and you can open it up and whoaaa! hidden MP3 CHANGER+ extra storage compartment?! i love you honda, so clever.

but no. its just a flat panel there above the shelf, for you to put your hands on and dust off dust

i have a really tiny model of my fit. it rolls around alot, but thats cool with me. I think by having somthing neat there it turns the passengers attention away from "why" questions, and then they play with what ever you have. So maybe if you put somthing there, they wont ask. because instead of "whats it for?" itll be "o, thats what its for". just my $0.2

I put my cell phone there - it sits perfectly. Haven't been able to dislodge it in a turn yet, but not because I wasn't trying.

x2, anyone that sits in my car automatically puts their cell phone there. Fits perfectly!

Nada for me. Not sure how much it cost Honda for that storage area plus the rubber lining, but I'm guessing they could've used it for something more useful.
