Pro's.. ipod video control, 24bit DAC best EQ for ascreen on the market, color changing lights so you can match it to your dash. Super clean looking. Best sounding double din DVD player on the market.

Con's. You gotta put the damn Navi DVD every time you want to enter a new destination.

I've been thinking of getting one of these and an iPod Classic to play music videos and movies. How's the video quality when going from the iPod to the Avic D3 screen?

Just installed it myself on Jimmy's white Fit, and it wasn't TOO hard. using stock stereo speakers too.

It isn't that bad to wire up, just make the harness, make sure you wire the pink wire to the VSS wire and you should be just fine.

If you don't plan on using an external amplifier, don't bother hooking up the Audio In/Out harness as it would add bulk and be harder to install as you would have more wires you could potentially pinch.

The Avic D3 is a really nice navi. When installing it DO NOT simply pull the faceplate (I think that the name of it) as Cuteboi and I tried doing LOL. Before doing anything make sure you get service manual, and I highly recommend getting a long screwdriver for removing the "hidden" screws (I believe behind the AC controls). The sound quality is a huge improvement of the OEM sound especially since you can play with the EQ setting to improve the sounds. Granted that I'm still using the stock stereo speakers. Since I usually running off my Ipod the DVD navi is not a problem to me and also VERY illegal to watch videos in the front while the car is in motion. Overall the AVIC D3 is a really nice kit for less then a thousand dollars.

I've had mine installed since July. I have the iPod adapter and XM too. Install wasn't bad and I did the bypass so I can enter destinations while moving and watch video while moving. Haven't tried watching a video yet, but being able to enter a destination while moving is cool. I leave the nav disc in all the time, so I don't have any issues with that. Still running factory speakers, which did sound better using the AVIC-D3.

The latest version available blocks this.

We did the handbrake bypass by grounding it out, and it causes the Navi to go into some mode where if it detects motion (your VSS is giving a signal), it will not allow you to change destinations while in motion.

Also, entering a destination while driving is so dangerous, even if the passenger is doing it, they are blocking access to YOUR central console.
