Skunk 2 Shift Knob Question If You Have One Read Plz!!!!

hey guys i just got a skunk 2 shift knob and its mmmmm yummy smooth and heavy but when i screw it on as tight as i can the numbers are not str8 up like on the oem knobs ive seen a few knobs that are made for dc5s etc. and they fit the fit perfectly..i understand its diff for every car but since skunk2 MOSTLY just does honda stuff. im wondering why it wouldnt be made to fit it perfectly. AND is there any way to make it str8 up... honestly it doesnt matter but im kind of a perfectionist sometimes haha.

You know how it has the other screw? well you use that screw first...then you screw on the shift knob.
Then when the numbers are straight you tighten the lower screw.
cool.

Yeah, its gonna set fairly high in the fit, I swapped mine over from my cb7 when I got the fit and I hated how high it looked, plus it felt wierd throwing that much weight with every shift in such a small car

Yea, i just installed mine the other day, i had the same problem, but i figured it out. Also, i was able to pull the rubber shift boot over the nut so u can't see it. The knob does sit kinda high tho =( It's also really friggin' smooth! my hand actually slipped off accidentally this morn on my way to work! I like it tho... im all about black/red =)

lol, mine tightened on perfect without the nut.... but then I took it off one day to show somebody how much it weighed and now it is scewed I tried using the nut to straighten it up, but I already got used to the position so I took it off and now it is ghetto style angled.... it drives my freinds crazy

i had the skunk2 knob on mine, but didn't like how heavy it felt. i have the mugen dildo now, and really like it. wouldn't change it for anything. except maybe to add a shift extender.

skunk2

I had the same problem. i took it off them put it bak in and the numbers were crooked. I just cut out to small pieces of tin foil and made them into a washers. It worked perfectly and now its even a tighter fit. You can't even see them either.

Skunk2 springs

I had the same problem. I put some teflon tape, then screw the nut to tighten the knob. works perfectly.

Sounds like a neat trick, I will have to try that when I put my SK2 SS in.

I'm not sure if this will work on the Skunk knob... but my Honda Genuine knob came with a lock nut that you spin on before you screw the knob on. Once you get the knob straight, tighten the nut (counterclockwise) while holding the knob. It keeps you from messin up the threads by over-screwing the knob or using the locking screw too. Just an idea.

i just got mine 2 days ago by accident(sent me the wrong knob..lol) but i am not sending it back cause i love it. works great with the skunk2 short shift adapter.. i just used a couple of layers of teflon tape to make it stick better and now it doesnt move around and sits right where i want it to.
