racing harness

ive been doing some searching and didnt come up with anything helpful so i figured i would just ask. ive got the seat situation under control and was wondering if any one knew how hard it would be to install a 4 point racing harness in my fit? the fit will probaly never see any track time i mainly want them for a little extra saftey and for the looks. would i have to drill for them or is there already a spot that i could mount them to like a rear strut bar? any help is greatly appreciated.

p.s.
if any one is using racing belts in their fits do you think you could post some pictures?

how exactly does the chest strap work? the main reason why i want the 4 point harness is mainly for looks and because i like the feeling of being strapped into the seat something about not being able to move around when im driving that makes me comfortable. is there some sort of saftey hazard with running anything other than the stock seat belts? if anything i though that it would be safer.

If you wanted to run a 4pt harness, you'd need to find something to mount them to of course. More often than not, you'd want to invest in a floor bar that goes behind the front seats in the rear passenger foot space. It will have to be bolted or welded to the frame for it to be a sufficient mounting point. If you were to mount it to your rear strut bar, you'd need to have your rear seats folded down at all times. I don't think it would be safe to be honest to have the 4pt mounted to the rear strut bar. Best way to do it is with the floor bar. The stock seat belts are more than sufficient IMO and your seat rails will have a mounting point for them.

Good choice on the seats BTW, I have the black with gradient insert in mine! Which ones did you get?

the strap goes around you and the seat. kinda like synching you in the seat. DEFINATELY glues you to teh seat.

Mounting a 4 points shoulder straps lower than 45 degrees below your shoulder is very dangerous. 10 degrees either above or below is the best.

This is true and most sanctioning bodies wont let you race with it mounted any other way. You have to have a harness bar like i showed in the other pics.. or attached to roll cage that is at regulation height.

If you never have passengers in the back seats you use the back seat belt mounts, they usually aren't more than 45 degrees. Thats what a buddy of mine did with his ep3 when he was to cheap to replace the preloaded belts from the dealer when he slid off the road into a big rock.

keep in mind that is the INCORRECT way to mount them on a harness bar. If installed on a bar the harness must be wrapped.
