I guess I was a little too excited last night
Now everything is fine when using the good folder structure (CD01, CD02, etc)

Thanks for all your hints Rob!

Everyone else with a Base HU, this product is very cool!

Hackbox,

Still enjoying the player? I've started loading stuff for my wife and kids in the various folders. The kids seem to really enjoy having their favorite songs available when they're riding in the car - usually Hannah Montana - and if they're happy, I can tolerate almost anything!!

Have you run into the 90 file per folder limit or did you find something different? I noticed the newer ads on eeekbay claim thousands of songs per folder, upgrade maybe?

I still love my player!! I notice how much better the sound quality is over the radio. Haven't really had a chance to compare it to a CD since I don't seem to use the CD player much now.

Rob,
Yeah still enjoying it! After reading your reply, I've tried putting more than 90 songs in a folder. I've put 121 songs in a folder, and guess what? It works! the track count pass from 99 to 01, but actually, it's 100 or 101, as It bypass the track 00 (100).

I will try tomorrow to put more mp3s to see the limit.
I will be able to put an entire discography in one folder

I've also noticed that the order of the songs are in the same order that they are copied on my usb key.

Nice, I'll give it another try and see if I can squeeze more in.

To avoid having the songs play in the same order every time, I use the RDM (random) feature. I can forward randomly but going backwards deactivates the RDM feature.

Yeah I use the RDM option too, it's just that I think it's good to be able to guess the order of the songs as we don't have titles.

If the order was alphabetical, it will not be a good thing I think.

I haven't had time to check the file capacity yet but had a weird experience yesterday. The unit kept resetting on the drive home from work. I noticed the resets seemed to occur when my blackberry was receiving messages. The blackberry signal may be strong enough to interfere with the operation of the mp3 player (the blackberry was sitting on the passenger seat about 1.5 ft from the player.

When I got in the car this AM, the player worked fine. Note I don't get messages on my blackberry in the morning. I also suspected the connector might be loose but haven't had time to check it.

Have you seen anything like this?

I had a chance to check folder capacity. I got it to work with 120 files so now I have no idea what the limit is per folder. The max file number is 99 so the 100th song is 01. I'll update my main post on this with the new info.

Sorry for the delay, I was out of town!
As I don't have a Blackberry, I can't confirm If I also have the problem.
I have a cellphone with bluetooth, no problem with this $hitty samsung phone.

I'm still really happy with the device, I can put entire discography of a band or an artist in the same folder, really cool!

I haven't seen the problem since my 5-21 post.

The sound quality is great compared to the radio. In switching back and forth between radio and the mp3 player/changer, I'm always impressed with the huge improvement in the way the songs sound from the player/changer.

Have you hit any limit on folder capacity? The write-ups on ebay and the 'net claim 1000s per folder. I don't think I have enough songs on my computer to test it.

NEW FEATURE (well not really but I just found it)

The scan button at the top of the radio will cause this mp3 player to play each song for 10 sec then move to the next.

No problem. The big 'coup' here isn't the player, it's being able to use the CD changer jack on the back of the HU without pulling the HU. Gives the Sport owners some neat options too. Let me know if you are having trouble or need additional details.

I feel like a dumbass, but I can't find the CD changer connection. I pulled the glovebox all the way down and have felt all around that area pictured, but I can't find any open place to plug this in. I felt at the back of the radio, and it feels like there is something else plugged in where it seems like the open port should be.

Okay, I'm guessing what I felt was the plug in for the antennae. Is the one that I'm looking for right next to it? If so, how do you get access to it? Are reaching over the top of the radio or going from the side?

Is it the second or third port from the right on the picture below (pic taken from Db et ac on the DIY: Auxiliary on Base Fit topic)

the connection ports look different from each other. can't you compare the connector with one of those ports to see which one would fit correctly?

True, a bit lazy this morning. So, how do you reach it? Do you go over the radio or from the side?

Anyone here attach an IPOD with the USB wire to this thing?
Will it work with the stereo controls?
Will it work at all?

Success!

Thanks to this forum, I was able to get the plug into the socket on the back of the HU by only dropping the glovebox. I didn't think my hand could do it. I tried for one evening and gave up with cuts all over my hands. Then, I came down this morning and it popped in after 5-10 minutes of fiddling.

I have one question for those that got it in... did you hear or feel a snap? I'm concerned because the plug didn't snap in and I don't want it to work itself out over time.
