Please Pimp My 09 Fit!

hello all,

Ok here is the deal I have $6000 I will be putting $5000 down on my 09 Fit I would like to buy a complete audio system for my new car with a budget of around $2000. I am not up to date with car speakers or headunits or subs or amps. I don't know what really goes with what and I know I should spend time figuring it out but I don't have much time to commit to that. I understand this takes knowledge work and time and any help would be greatly appreciated.

What I am looking for:

-Navigation
-Good quality sound I listen to mostly Rock and once every blue moon hiphop/techno. ( I want a system that sounds really well when its turned low and when its loud. I am not a fan of "sloppy" bass that drowns out the entire song.)

So if you guys could help me out so much as to peice togeather a reasonable system I would greatly appreciate it. Again I know there are alot of people that have dedicated many hours to comparing compenets to sound systems and I feel tapping into others information to help me learn is the best way to go.

Thank you!

Unless you go with the factory Navigation system, or one of the seperate navi systems, you are going to have a hard time switching out the factory head unit until somebody releases a install kit for the 09. I'd say get the factory navi system, and then use a JL audio cleansweap, then you can use whatever amps speakers you want. Otherwise you will have to wait.

DO NOT GET THE FACTORY NAV SYSTEM.... wait it out untill the 09 dash kit comes out. Should be mid-late october. Buy a $189 portable nav unit if you need a nav to hld you off.

IMO best overall nav unit out there is the Kenwood 8120. for $2000 you can get that, a decent set of front speakers, and 4 ch amp, and a decent sub.

that would work... My best suggestion is always to go out and listen to various setups. go to a few shops, hear what they have and get an idea.

the speakers in the fit are very good. i think they sound much better than alot of EXPENSIVE aftermarket speakers i've heard. if i were you i'd save money by not spending money on new speakers, and either put that money in the bank or use it to upgrade to a JL system. get 2 10W6 subs, or like, 1 12W7 and a 1000x1 amp and your gonna be setting off car alarms for a quarter mile around.

I don't think he plans on blowing out his ear drums or cause some brain damage...

Some people want some rock music to enjoy, and bass isn't all it's thought to be when it comes to rock. Bass is for a lot of things, including killing people at night.

That setup above looks good, and don't get the NAV system from Honda... sadly I Don't think they are that well done. And if you wait a 2 months for the aftermarket kit from Metra, you will appreciate it.

Metra comes out with the aftermarket kits, and sells them to BestBuy to stock up and install nationwide on any car that comes out.

Just an FYI.

Instead of buying an aftermarket dash kit, buy the OEM Honda nav dash piece. That way you get the double din opening, perfect color match/fit, etc. Thats what I did on my 08 civic. Pretty cheap too.

we do that all the time for the new civics. The fit however may have different steel brackets for the nav piece which from Honda are rediculously pricey. Wait it out a litle I'll get more info in the next couple of weeks. I have an alarm/starter to do on an 09 next week allready so I'll have a better look at it all.

dont know bout you, but factory speakers suck... all factory systems suck imo... and although jl is nice... jl is also overpriced... you can get comparable quality for less money... and the fit doesnt need 1000 watts for the substage.. its a hatch and the listener is in the same cabin, so you dont need that much...
