question about avic f900bt

i just got a pionner avic f900bt installed in my car, but after a week, it kept display "something-something Is starting up, please wait" after couple minutes the whole unit turn off and back on, but display the same thing again. When i checked the system information, map version is no map version, and firmware version is 1.001700. does anybody know how to solve this problem? dont have time to go back to the stereo shop yet. Thx before.

I had the same problem on my f90 a few weeks ago and just took the unit back to the shop that installed it and got a new one. Pioneer should be aware of these problems by now, seeing as the folks at avic411 call them every day to find out when the next update is coming out (it's supposed to be out soon).

The update that is supposed to fix these issues is supposed to be out very soon. Yes, I used supposed twice in that sentence, mostly because it is a very fitting word.

2.0 firmware is out for avic f models. I just updated mine and it improves the unit quite a bit.

Hey, I'm ordering one of these units at Top Choice for $550.

#1, does anyone have anything to say about them? While the price is cheap, it certainly doesn't have the best reviews from customers.

#2, does anyone have the writeup on how to install the unit? What else do I have to get to install it into my 08 fit?

#3, you're awesome =)

#1. F series are pretty slow
#2. installation on this one is almost the same as regular head unit, connect the park break to ground; and move the mute wire to the below-forth spaces to the right and connect to the ground. u'll need the frame kit, the wire harness, antenna adapter.
#3. thx

Hey Dayak,

the antenna, frame kit, and harness are all purchased separately, correct?

Frame kit as in the schosche or the metra kit? Where is the best place to get these?

And wiring harness and antenna can be purchased at circuit city or radio shack, right?

Thanks, double awesome you are.

Hey GBjaynu,
Yes, the antenna, frame kit, and harness are purchased separatly.
I'd go by Merta's kit, because the quality of it is more (my opinion). You should be able to get them from Circuit City, Best Buy, or local car stereo shop, NOT Radio Shack.

You are welcome
