Anybody Dynamat-ed their FIT?

i know a lot of you have tricked out sytems but anybody dynamat their FIT? What did you do? (doors / hatch / spare tire compartment / floors / hood / fenders?) How successful was the job in eliminating vibration and rattling? Any significant reduction in road noise / engine noise?

I haven't done it yet, but one day when I get the time and money I'd like to dynamat/fatmat/edead/whatever my car. I'm not an audiophile, but just want to quiet down the ride as much as possible and eliminate road noise.

If you do it please do take pics and do a DIY.

I put Edead in my 08 and it made a huge difference. I'm definitely planning on doing it again in my 09'.

Take pics!

How many square footage did you use? What parts of the car?

I can't remember the exact footage. I also layered 1/4" neoprene over the edead. The biggest sound difference came from the rear spare tire area. I also did the floors and the doors. I actually used a decibel meter and had about a 15 db drob while on the highway from road noise. I wanted to see what difference doing the roof would be but I didn't want to get into removing the headliner. I might be imagining it but the roof seems quieter on my 09'.

i have hushmat on all my doors/hatch and trunk/spare tire area. it works really well. you can knock on the door and it'll sound like it is solid vs. before it sounds like a hollow tin can sound. road noise is hardly noticeable now unless you really try to listen for it.

sounds like its worth the time and the money then. I know the FIT is no luxury ride but I cant stand how loud it is on the highway. Reminds me of the old echo hatchback my sister had. I would like to eliminate as much road / engine noise so I can enjoy my tunes at any speed. Thanks again for the response

How hard is it to remove the carpeting and such to get access to the bare metal of the car? I'm just afraid that after I take everything apart I won't be able to put everything back the way it was (ex. fitment issues with carpet, platics, etc).

If you take your time the door panels come off pretty easily. The hardest thing about getting the carpet up was the tight plastic covers at the end of the seat rails(covering the bolts). Otherwise, I just worked on sections, one side to the other so I wouldn't have to take out everything at once.

I used about 100 sq ft of RF Deadskin to do all 4 doors, the entire rear cargo area, hatch, and floor.

Wow thats a lot but it nice to have a number in my head. Im thinking about getting some Second Skin Damplifier or RAAMat BXT. Im gonna do all the areas you mentioned and my roof, because it kinda flexes which gave me three dents

i ended up doing my floors / doors / trunk / hatch / license plate
with b-quiet ultimate. Definitely worth the money spent! there's absolutely no rattles when i crank up the speakers or pump the bass coming from my 10 inch ported kenwood sub in the back. (will be changing to sealed tomorrow). a lot of the rattles going over bumps is now muffled. its definitely no lexus and you can still hear windnoise / engine noise but thats b/c i didn't do the firewall or roof (not sure if doing the roof would actually help with windnoise) but overall very satisfied.

If you dont mind me asking, do you have any idea on how much deadener you used. I forgot about doing the license plate. Mine vibrates like no other. I have already removed the frame that was around it and it has some foam behind it. It still manages to make some noise. Hopefully after the deadener Im down to just the dash and the windshield (which affects my wipers) vibrating. Sad thing is, I dont think its nearly loud enough yet.
