small subs in rear hatch?

before i take apart the panel on the hatch of my 09 fit sport, has anyone built a box into the hatch and used that as the sub enclosure? i am thinking a jl 8, to go with my focal separates in the doors.

any thoughts?

I don't see anyway that you could manage squeezing any speaker, let alone a sub, into the rear hatch panel. I removed mine to deaden the panel, and while there may be room to fit it depth-wise, I don't see how it could perform up to standard. There is plenty of room on the passenger side in the rear to build a stealth box. That's what I would recommend.

But then again, I haven't seen everything!

I don't know, maybe you could squeeze two 10" subs or 8" subs in there. It's a really great idea if it works out!

It always starts out small but then you will want more. it always happens that way.
