My first fiberglass sub enclosure
lol, yeh i did finish them. they sound great! not sure if they're any better than the previous box i had, but they definately use much less of the cargo space
the only issues i have are getting access to the spare tire underneath (i have to move the subs to the centre and lift them up with the spare tire cover) and since i haven't put grills on them, things can touch them. haven't had any problems with things touching them yet, but i just need to be careful.

Nice. I was worried about having enough air to move with 10s or 12s and was considering a similar set up with a pair of 8s.
Having done it, would you do it the same or go to 8s?
And can you post pics of the finished product?

To be honest, I'm very happy with my setup
I've got a pair of 10's.. I think if I did it again, I would think about maybe using a couple of 12's (or even a good 15!!
) for deeper bass. But I find that the 10's are plenty for this car
I don't think I would go down to 8's because I've still got plenty of space with the 10's and I don't think they would be quite bassy enough for me.. plus I've installed a set of component speakers in the front doors which come with 6's so I find they all compliment each other well: 10's for bass, 6's for mids, tweeters for highs
Oh yeh, here are some pics I took this morning.. (the white thing between the strut bar and the amp on the right is to stop them vibrating against each other
). I made the cargo cover to stop the sun baking my amps when I'm parked outside. It's a bit crappy at the moment, but it works. When I get some time I'll sort out both issues..

Looks like you did well, however your bass output you referred to (Deep Bass) is not bassed on sub size but rather more on enclosure. Sure with a little larger sub you might get MORE bass but not deeper. In smaller applications like what you have here its more of a filler bass and not a deep hitting bass. You would have to give up a bit more room for larger sealed enclosures or go to a ported enclosure.
You could however try putting a little acoustic fiberfill in your current enclosures, this serves to give the illusion of a larger enclosure to the sub and may give you a little more output that you like. You can pick up fiberfill from a craft store for a couple of bucks so its not a huge investment to try out.
Good luck!

fit4spl, thanks for clearing that up, i wasn't sure if what i said was correct so thanks for correcting me! as for the volume of the enclosure, I made them to the size specified by the manufacturer (as best as i could) and i also added a layer of that fiberfill stuff inside the enclosure, and helped a little from what i could tell
airhart, not sure if i can help with ur decision, but personally i found my subs were too much before i upgraded my stereo and component speakers... but since then they sound just right
