replace HUD on RHD Fit (Jazz)
replace HUD on RHD Fit (Jazz)
Hi,
I have the Honda Jazz and I would like to replace the Head Unit. I don't need Navigation or Video and am only looking for better ipod integration and USB input. I am currently using the aux-in which doesn't integrate with the steering mounted controls.
Can i replace this with something better?
Thanks!

There are nearly an unlimited amount of options that you have. I would go to your local specialty shop and see what you like. I would talk with the sales guy with your primary goals and let him show you what they offer. As long as you stick with a mainstream brand and have a quality installation you'll be pleased with what you get!
Thank you for your reply. I would prefer to buy something online and get it installed from my local installer and if possible actually do it myself.
Any links you can recommend online? Thanks again

As a past installer and sales manager of a specialty store I would recommend at least going by and "playing" with a radio. There are many subtle things that may not be readily apparent from a picture or a website. The ease of use is something that can only be "felt" and the menu or the way to access important features is something that only you can figure out by trying it out. For instance I once sold a brand that was an attractive looking but the volume "knob" was only a rocker. It seemed counter intuitive to how I expected to operate the unit. Once you've got the unit picked out you can go nearly anywhere to purchase what you want. Install is pretty easy as long as you can follow directions. There are plenty of DIY's out there to show you how the install should go, or you can ask specific questions on here. As long as you have some mechanical abilities you should be okay. I'll just warn you that when it comes the pulling on dash pieces that if it feels like there is a screw that you missed, you probably did. And continuing to tug on a piece of plastic will usually ends in disaster (and an expensive trip to the dealer for a replacement).
I will warn you that some installers will charge a small additional fee to install equipment that is CPE (customer provided equipment) due to the limited specific knowledge of the product as well as a buffer in case they have issues with the product itself. It's not as common with a new unit but I would charge extra so that I could power the unit up on the bench to make sure that it powered up and worked like it is supposed to on a used piece of equipment.
