Don't waste your time with coaxials, get components well worth the little bit more in $$ and they are NOT that hard to install, you can see my install log for help I did a detail on how the doors come apart and how to run wires. Looks like you have package deals you are looking at, how about this. Give me how much you want to spend on just equipment, and I can come up with a few different systems to match your budget.

Using the same costs you had on those items here is something I came up with, if you have more in your budget, then just let me know as this is just one setup I came up with.

Total Cost of your package = $532
Total Cost of this package = $574

Alpine CDA-105L MP3/WMA CD Receiver iPod Controller | eBay

Alpine unit with iPod cable and USB capability, since most people these days have an iPod this would be great to have.

Audio Savings | NEW HIFONICS 12" CAR SUBWOOFER+VENTED SUB BOX ENCLOSURE

Single 12" HiFonics sub, don't let it fool you these are regarded by SPL competitors as a very well made low cost sub.

Audio Savings | HIFONICS BRUTUS BRZ1200.1D 1200w MONO AMP+WIRE KIT NEW

Again, low cost but this gives you room to add another 12 later or if you have the budget now a second sub.

Audio Savings | ALPINE SPS-610C+SPS-610 6.5" COMPONENT SPEAKERS+COAXES

I LOVE this package, gives you FULL speaker upgrades all the way around with components up front.

So just one example of what you can get for right around the exact same money, and I think not only would this sound better, but it gives you room to expand sub wise.

and also, would a 12" sound like too much power? my dad says 2 10s would sound much better.

The alpine speakers are going to be better because #1 you will be using components up front and #2 you will be also replacing your rear speakers with coaxials. As for the sub, it will sound fine, whether you go with 1 12 or 2 10s you are hearing the same frequencies, just output would be different, while the 10s will work so will the 12. The 12 being in a ported box will allow it to be louder just by design. The headunit is pretty much just a choice thing, I love alpine and I use an iPod for all my music so I picked that one based on that. As far as brands go, kicker has moved to mass manufacturing, where almost all their products are made in Korea. They are not the same company they were 5-10 years ago. Not to say they are bad, just would not be my first choice or recommendation now.

My setup is different, but I have experience with a ton of products. But again my setup is outside your budget but I will outline it for you.

Alpine CDA-9887 - $225 (used)
Rockford Fosgate T400-2 - $150 (used)
Sundown SAZ1500d - $300 (used)
JBL C608GTI MKII - $300
(2) Sundown SA12's - $400
Wiring - $150
Kit/Harness - $30

Total - $1555

Of course I did my install and box building myself so I saved money there, as for the gear being used, as long as you are careful there is nothing wrong with buying used gear. What I spec'd out for you is a pretty good beginner system with room to expand on the sub area, where you can buy another HiFonics 12 and a dual enclosure or build one and your sub amp will have plenty of power to run them both.

okay, first off i didnt read anything you posted but here in my opinion with sound systems, i spent just under 200 for 2 rockford fosgate p3 slims, and some 300 watt amp and hooked it up to my stock speakers and my system BUMPED! that is all....

I would say listen to fit4spl.. Sounds like he knows what he talking about..

I too have been through several systems and you need to do research instead of looking for stuff on eBay..

I've had 10", 12" and now a 15" lol it all just depends on the sound you're looking to get.. My setup is pioneer a series in the doors, stock tweeters, old school kicker L5 15" in a ported box with a 500w Rockford amp. The highs are good enough and the bass is SUPER LOUD and that's what I was looking for..

Also consider trunk space because I basically cut my trunk in half.

PS I used to have a Hifonics amp and it was a monster.. My two 12" P3s hooked up to the 1000w Hifonics was my favorite sub setup so far.. It made the wing on my Integra wiggle )))

$200 won't get results like this, but then again I am a bass freak!

^ that's dope. I thought my mirror was funny the way it just instantly turns down when the bass turns up lol but this is nasty.
I don't like bassing out all of them time but sometimes I just have to. I used to have a JL true 500 that was going to be powering my "15 but something got f'ed up in it.. I was thinking about upgrading to a 1000w amp but I've got better things I can spend my dollars on.

ID's should sound good. I remember years ago I ran a set of ID6's in the doors of my nissan truck. They were beefy. Everything else looks good. Now all you need is a solid install.

so i ordereed the set up you recommended Fit4Spl. the 12" hifonics sub, 1200 watt hifonics amp alpine deck and the alpine speakers. i am now worried about the 1200w amp being too much power and it blowing out the sub. i know i should have found out before i ordered all the stuff.

Just remember the GAIN on the amp is NOT a volume knob, so keep it low since you are only going to run one sub unless you know someone who can set it properly for you. Also if the shop installing everything wires the sub down to 2ohm your amp will put out around 900watts roughly depending on impedance swing with frequency. So yes you will have more power than the sub can handle on an RMS basis but you should be fine, just exercise a little caution and don't blast the holy crap out of it right out of the box. If you start hearing the sub making strange noises, stop immediately with what you are playing, and you may need to lower your gain on the amp a bit. Overall you should be good, and you will have the power to add another sub at a later day if you wish.

Post some pictures and updates after you get it all installed and listen to it.

Didn't even get my fit yet.... Comes Monday. BUT... FIT4 how would this set up work minus the amp and sub. I am not looking for anything crazy (too old for that now) but would like a quality sound.

thanks in advance,

Jack

If you go with the Alpine cd player and all four new speakers you will hear a considerable difference in sound quality and output. So it would work awesome for you, the factory stereo in Fits is just to me very low quality.
