No audio output when it rains

Ive got a 2008 Fit that I just got used. The original owner put in an aftermarket pioneer HU and speakers. i just noticed that there is no audio output when it rains. Same thing happened after I wash my car. The head unit still has power and sometimes I hear a "pop" through the speakers before the audio cuts off. I assume there is a ground or short somewhere and the HU is going into safe mode to protect itself. Any ideas on where I should start looking to solve this problem?

Sounds like the negative on the speakers is grounding to the chassis. Try taking off the door panels and making sure all of the wires are properly connected and covered. If they are then try installing some washers or butyl between the speaker and the door frame. New screws would also help.

Thanks for the reply. Pulled off the doorpanels and looks like the previous owner used a long self tapping screw and drilled the speaker through the mount and into the door itself, causing it to ground out.
