Is there any way to disconnect the seat belt alarm?

I have found that the easiest way to stop the seat belt alarm is to...drum roll please...wear your seat belt. It's there for a reason.

Thanks. I realize that, and do wear the seat belt. But when one stops to get the mail and leaves the motor running, or releases the seat belt for short time, the alarm is annoying.

Probably more effort than it's worth, but you could re-buckle the seatbelt after you get out.

If you found a way to disconnect the sensor or warning chime, I'd be worried that it would affect other systems in the car negatively... like not warning you about other issues, not setting off the airbags in a crash, etc. I'm just guessing, though.

Meh, I am happy with it pinging me when I get out of the car with the engine still running. I am also happy that my friends who don't wear seatbelts normally get annoyed enough to actually put theirs on. Maybe someday this silly dinging will save their lives.

Same. If the passenger isn't wearing a seat belt, you both get a ticket. It's not worth it.

I know these answers are probably not what you had in mind when you started this thread, but the moral of this story seems to be deal with it...it's not that serious (the dinging that is).

No there is not a way to disable the system. It is required by law and manufacturers put it so deep in the ecu code and tie it to other funtions forget about it.

Buckle up and drive safe

Total BS the seat belt beep is just a reminder chime. It in no way is a non defeatable safety device. All it takes is 5 min with a Honda diagnostic computer to disble.
The issue in reality is that with our sue happy country if a dealer turns off the seatbelt chime they can get sued if that person gets into a accident without having their belt on. This country is so bent on passing the blame they refuse to take responsability for their actions....
Best recourse is to become friendly with a tech at your local Honda dealer n get him to cut it off for you....

??? Dude are you kidding me?? Your not "tampering with the ECU"... The seat belt minder chime is a defeatable option that is accessed using a HONDA DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER...The same one that reads your cell codes when your check engine light is lit.... All the Honda tech does is go into the convienience/comfort features of the interface and deselects seat belt chime..Thats it...

Just disconnect it under the seat. (DO NOT DISCONNECT THE YELLOW = Airbag)

The beep beep it's too much bad. I put all way time the belt, but i don't like this sound.

Same on my EP3. Belt alarm disconnected.

I thought of this too. It does get annoying. But I'm glad it's there. It's so annoying it forces me to put my belt on, not for the obvious safety reason but to just turn it off.

I'm glad it comes with this feature. Otherwise, I don't think I would wear my seatbelt as much.

Stevens24 Im not getting into a pissing match its a matter of knowing what can be done thru experience vs what a friend of a friend told me. I work in the auto service field and know what can be done to a car using the tools avail to a tech. Its a simple matter to turn off a reminder chime. I had it done to my Mazda3 as well as various other cars...
Just a FYI I went to the Honda dealer that is owned by the same company that owns the Porsche dealer I work for and got a few min with a Honda tech and the Honda Diag computer. Ends result is no more seatbelt chime .....

I also work for Honda and while I was aware of the fact you could disable it there are laws requiring it and most dealerships aren't going to expose themselves to the liability of disconnecting it and a customer coming back after an accident. It also save the service dept 500 people coming in wanting it disconnected. Its cool though.

In actuality if you read the laws correctly whats required is for the seatbelt to work as well as the airbags. You cant remove/disable either one. As for the chime if the beep is turned off the dash light must stay on untill such time as the belt is latched. The seatbelt light in the cluster will then serve as the primary reminder...
Had to research this when I went to have the beep reminder deactivated in the Mazda3....
But in the end I agree having a large influx of customers asking to deactivate the chime is a pain and my techs wouldnt get any real work done....
