Door panel cloth DIY

Found this on a Japanese Fit owner's blog and had posted it on my website, but thought it good to post here too. It's Japanese only, but there's enough pics that most people who're handy should be able to figure out what's being done. If there's any specific questions, post 'em here and I'll translate the text that explains what you need.

The effect is pretty nice I think, and most people should be able to do it a bit cleaner than the writer of the DIY (he's got wrinkles, but those should be easy to avoid). Anyway, just something I thought I'd share.

WOW that looks soo damn good!! I am definitely feeling this i MIGHT do it cuz it looiks sooooooo good but ima remove the panel and take off the old material and put new ones on. I used 2 do (minor) upholstery in my old hatchback (door panels, seats, roof panel, sub box) so i might even do a write-up! Of course ima color match my car w/ that material!

Yeah, the biggest thing is getting the cloth panels out. Since they're held on by "rivet"-style posts, he mentions that he used a drill and punch to get them out, but if you can do it cleaner then he says it'll pay off later since you can use screws to refasten the panels back in for a neater look. From the pics I'd say maybe use side-cutters to nip the rivet head off, then use screws and washers in the remaining posts to fasten everything back to gether. Without seeing it in person though, it's just a guess.

that is the exact same way i did my EG hatch's door panel. It was a plastic rivet sorta like glued on there. I had 2 drill em out then when i wanted 2 put em back on i just boguht some short self tap screws n washers and they held up nicellyyy.

I hope someone sells it premade. I'm not handy with cutting and toolwork. I want to mimic that Civic Type R interior.
