Blue Boy and Silvertown ride again!
Here we are, back at the battlefield! This is not just ANY battlefield though. On this cold, dry day, we were in for the biggest battle of them all... a battle of wits.... err.... fits... yea, Fits!
The challenge presented to these two challengers was to take on an autocross course, and show it just how slow, slow can be! They were prepared. Our players in this little wit ga... FIT game is once again Blue Boy and Silvertown... these two challengers have met twice before. The first time, Silvertown was victorious in the first drag race battle, edging out Blue Boy by nearly a full second in the 1/4 mile.
The second time these two foes met on the field of battle, Blue Boy had changed a few things, which made Silvertown question everything he knew about the world... and Blue Boy. Blue Boy went shopping between these two rounds, and wound up wearing the entire performance section of the Mugen catalog! This of course dealt a dynamic blow to Silvertown... he had no chance on this round. Blue Boy blazed by, bouyantly beating him by a blazingly bulbous distance... by nearly a full second, Blue Boy had been victorious over Silvertown...
Their relationship would soon be stressed.
The last time these two met, it was a 1-1 matchup... but now the battle is anew... these two former firends had a new reason to grind thier grills in anticipation! This time, they would be allowed to TURN!
They met up early in the morning with another friend of theirs, named Black Beard...
He is a Honda CRX of fury! His performance knows no bounds, and with the twin cam motor he just installed, he is looking to decimate all! Black Beard was also looking forward to watching this battle between these old friends... but he had a battle of his own to wage.. Black Beard had not been on an autocross course since his last molting. He had to prove himself worthy to carve cones once again.
They met at the birthplace of power... the Panducky Motorsports hideout.
But something was amiss... Black Beard was SMOKING! no one knew what to do... the autocross was about to start! But in a fight of courage, Black Beard put his chin up, and went to work replacing his oil pan gasket in record time! In less than an hour, Black Beard did the impossible... he replaced his pan gasket, and was no longer smoking like the blimey pirate fool that he is... er... was.
Black Beard was set, so all three were off to the races! Hopefully they would arrive in time, since they were now almost an hour later than they were planning.
By some twist of fate, they were still accepting registrations... Silvertown, Black Beard and Blue Boy were excited! They would all still be able to prove their sheetmetal on this day of rest.
Trash talking had already begun at this point. Black Beard was confident... so confident in fact that he had already begun to count his chickens. The chickens were annoying... i think they were beginning to molt, which would mean that Black Beard wasn't too far behind.... damn chickens!
Silvertown and Blue Boy however were going at it a bit more... they knew that Black Beard had no chance... the REAL battle of Fits was between.... well, between the Fits!
The race was on... everyone was covered in blue tape, and the cones were beginning to shake at their bases... they had no idea what they were in store for on this blissful day.
Black Beard and Blue Boy were put into the same run group, so that meant that Silvertown had to run alone later in the day... this was ok though, since it gave Silvertown time to watch the racers, and see how Blue Boy was going to do.
Blue Boy was prepped... he has his KDW tires on the buddy club wheels, Mugen 5-Way Suspension, Progress rear anti-sway bar, and of course the mugen power accessories, like the header, axle-back exhaust, and the all important drop-in air filter! Blue Boy was READY for action!
Black Beard was in the same boat... his tires were on, his short shifter was ready, and his suspension was more dialed in than the soap... he was ready for battle... the two ran back-to back for most of thier runs... the results were astounding!
They each had 5 runs to show what they were made of!
Black Beards times on this day would be:

It was clear... the Fit known only as Blue Boy would not take the victory on this day from Black Beard... Black Beards best time of the day was a 34.383, to Blue Boys fastest time of 37.016... Black Beard had won this round.
But WAIT! Silvertown was still sitting on the sidelines waiting patiently for his attepmt at immortality!
.... he sat.... through two more run groups... Silvertown was getting anxious.. he HAD to beat these two foes. How could he live with himself if he couldn't come close! Blue Boy was classed in the 'Street Touring' class... Black Beard was in the 'Street Modified 2' Class... but Silvertown was only in H Stock! How could he ever compete against the higher classed cars?
Silvertown held tough though... he was the underdog, but he'd show them all!
Finally... the time is here. Time for Silvertown to show everyone what he's made of... time to buzz some cones! He gets in line... and waits... and waits... The drama is building... the intense heat is making Silvertowns patience run thin... he wants his chance at the track!
The starter waves him forward for his first run, and he goes to the line... the flag drops, and he's OFF!
Blazing from one cone ot the next... careful not to clip any of them. Silvertown is sitll figuring himself out though.. this is the first time he's ever pushed himself like this! He doesn't know how he handles... how he turns... will he push? will he spin? oh, no! coming into the last set of gates, he clips a CONE!
34.446, plus one cone... Silvertown is devastated! He was not ahead of Black Beard.... but wait! what is this? He defeated Blue Boy, even with the cone penalty!!! Silvertown was looking good on this day! He was ready for his next set of runs to see what he had!
The next run was a 34.878, but Silvertown clipped the SAME CONE! Something had to be done... he needed to slap himself and not hit that blasted cone! He still was not ahead of Black Beard!
He went out for his 3rd run... carefully hitting all the gates... avoiding the cones.. BAM! it was a clean run... but not fast. Silvertown went through the lights at a 34.532... but with no cones! He still wasn't ahead of Black Beard!
The tension was building... Silvertown HAD to do it... and if he was going to do it, NOW was the time.. NOW was the chance he had if glory and voctory was to be his on this day!
SIlvertown Lept out of the starting gate like a jackrabbit on acid! Clipping each gate with perfection! Silvertown missed a shift, but its ok, the car was still going fast! Quick turn right, quick turn left... this course is for CHAMPIONS! Coming around the last turn, the tires were squealing like they were trying to be ripped off the wheels by some force stronger than nature itself! The tires just would not let go! quick turn right again, then left... BAM! through the finish line...
As he turned the corner to see his time... there it was... 33.931!!!! with NO CONES! YES!!!! VICTORY! Silvertown had defeated Black Beard AND Blue Boy! The crowd was ecstatic... they had no idea that this huge battle was waging, but they were finally thrilled that this slow car was going fast enough to not let them fall asleep while it was out there... they could wake up again! But the battle was won....... or WAS it? Silvertown wasn't done decimating the competition... he looked at his class. there was still one standing in his way of overall victory in H Stock... a new challenge arose, and Silvertown wanted to meet it and greet it with Vigor!
Silvertown went to the line for its 5th and final journey around the field of war... a field covers with rubber blood from countless cars that have run through the battlefield before it.
The flag went up... Silvertown could hardly wait... this run was going to be IT! The starter dropped the flag, and Silvertown revved his mighty heart to take the battlefield... the clutch was engaged, and no force of nature could stop this screaming little beast from tearing up this course!
Turn after turn, Silvertown was in the ZONE! the tires had never seen speed like this before... the bodyroll was so bad, silvertown could look out the window and check out the cones as he passed by them. The run seemed like it went on forever, but silvertown could feel that this was faster than anything he had ever felt before! Here comes the finish line... it was only a few gates away, but it couldn't get there quick enough! Silvertown flicked to the left... he flicked to the right... and BLAZED through the finish line! But did Silvertown accomplish the impossible? Could Silvertown have actually eclipsed his competitions times?
THere is was on the sign, as Silvertown made the turn... his heart was beating like a little bunny...
32.923!!!
A full second FASTER than Silvertowns fastest run! Silvertown could not believe what had just happened... Notr only did Silvertown defeat Blue Boy and BLack Beard, but Silvertown also took the H-Stock class on this fateful day. There was no Fit that was Fitter than this Fit!

So now the score between our two foes is 2-1 in favor of Silvertown... maybe at the next race Blue Boy will overcome Silvertown, and defeat him once again... but until then, Silvertown has the crown! And Black Beard?... well, we'll forgive him for now for being slower than a Fit. But next time, Black Beard needs to step up his game.

Great story as always John. A couple days before the auto-x I swapped the mugens off and changed the dampers to 3 in the front and 5 in the rears. I definately didn't start to feel comfortable with the setup until the last run but I missed a cone and coasted the rest of the course. So I could have done a lot better . It was also my first auto-x so I had a lot to learn from street driving to course setups.
The are running again next month and I plan to kick some serious arse.

Yes, both manual. One thing people should realize is John has been auto-xing for years and really is a great driver. Im a novice driver but I can hold my on at a drag stip but auto-xing I haven't gotten down pat just yet but Im definately improving.

We have a track day coming up at Gainesville I believe... that should make a nice addition to the EPIC STORY.
