Mate we have had Honda Jazzes since 2002 and unlike some countries we have had the vtec as well as the i-dsi from the get go.

I was disappointed we didn't get the car in 2001 when it was launched in Japan given Australia is such a tiny market with a 'very special' relationship with Honda Japan. This was probably due to the fact that Honda couldn't ramp production quickly enough to meet domestic demand at the time.

Most Honda products are shipped out to Australia for testing under extreme conditions and it also helps that we don't have speed limits in the Northern Territory. You can't get enough free space on a German autobahn to ride a Honda Blackbird at over 300km/hr or an NSX flatout for hours on end on public roads for thousands of kilometers. There's not too many other accessible places where temperatures hit over 55C in the middle of the day like they do on the Northern Territory/Western Australian boarder. Oh that's 55C in the shade. A bit warmer in the sun.

How do you translate 55C into F? I live in Phoenix, Arizona, USA and it can get over 120 degrees F in the summer. We do have several car companies that test in the desert near here. I am waiting for the Jazz / Fit to arrive. It looks like it will be a strong competitior to the Scion XA. I want to see how strong the air conditioner is!

55C is about 131F. It gets hotter out in the sun though.

In that sort of climate you really notice the difference with a light coloured car particularly white and a good tint. Air alone without tint or in a black car would be a waste of time.

The Air in the Jazz is ok but it won't freeze the balls off a brass monkey. If they used an air unit like in the Australian built Falcons and Commodores the aircon plant would be bigger than the Jazz engine.
