Congratulations on the new car and the great gas mileage.

That being said, I have one comment that i don't want to be misconstrued as "hating" or whatever it is the kids call it these days. I own an '08 Tidewater Blue Metallic Fit Sport. I think it is beautiful. There is something about the '09 that bothers me. From the front and back it is a good looking car. From the side, it doesn't sit well with me.

In front of the A-Pillar, at the beginning of the small window, it loses it. The slope of the roof is headed down nicely and them WHAM! the hood appears. If the roofline continued at the same angle, it would look much better.

Just a personal gripe. Otherwise, I love the wheels, the nav, the mileage and the color. It might grow on me eventually, but I am still waiting. I am probably biased because of the GD3.

It might be that, or it might be the wine I was drinking.

Dude I swear... the gauge doesn't lie. Or does it? Frankly I don't know yet. I'm still on the 1st tank!

But I'll tell you this. I installed the scangauge, filled the tank and drove to work 20mi. All Hiway. When I turned the key off the little blue number said... 52.8 mpg! Coming from driving a diesel truck , I was absolutely giddy!

Of course it 's dropped since then with mixed city an hiway but today with about 200 mi on the tank its 42.7 & climbing on the hiway commute??? I'm tellin ya if this is anywhere NEAR accurate...

But driving the truck this summer the one thing I learned was how to "feather the prop" so to speak. I was getting 23 mpg day in and day out on a 3/4 ton diesel pickup. Apply those same principles to this car and...

Oh and as far as the scangauge 1.... It was in my truck! Use what U got! GEES!

From what I understand, the computer's average is about ~4 mpg high. My coworker has an '09, and she confirms this.

Well.. that's disappointing to hear.. but also expected.

So they say... If it too good to be true.... it probably is...

I will post my results ... if I ever run out of gas...

I LOVE this CAR!!!

Yeah, that's what I thought when I saw them too. I was going to put some on my Fit but changed my mind when I saw how short they are. They don't protect the whole door.

Hipshot - I see that you got your Fit from Gwinnett Place Honda. Looks like I got mine the day after you got yours (your tag expires 10/12)-my temp tag expires 10/13 - TWB Sport AT with Navi-I'm in Norcross. Wish I was looking at 42 mpg but I'm sure mine will get better. Mine showed 32.4 today-encouraging! Now if the traffic would just let up! I will be traveling to Florida next month to visit my kids in college so I hope to get some good mileage numbers. Enjoy.

Hi Rabbit!
I heard there was a twin sister to my car there. But I never saw it. Did they drive yours down from SC too? Isn't it funny we meet up here? Congrats on your purchase! Aren't these cars great? I LOVE that nav system!

I'm all about the mileage. Coming from driving a diesel pickup, I've learned to "feather the prop" so to speak. I got 23mpg day in and day out on that 3/4 ton truck! Applying these same habits to this car and....

I also was fortunate enough to adjust my schedule to avoid alot of the daily traffic in the area. My commute is from Cumming to Alpharetta on 400. Might be why I'm doing so well on mileage.

Anyways, it's day 10 on the 1st tank - 420 mi on the trip meter - And the low fuel light is STILL dark! It' looks like tomorrow will be the day though.. If gas can be FOUND in the area! If not well.. it's back to the pickup!

Hey... just for fun.. we should hook up one day for a coke or something and take some twin pics. That would drive these folks (and anyone around us at the time) just nutz! All we need is an address...we CAN'T get LOST!!! hahha...

BTW... anyone want to buy a truck?

Wink

Hipshot - We test drove one in the morning that had come over from SC (140 miles on it). Went back in the evening and they had another exact one EXCEPT only 8 miles - had come off the truck that day, so that is the one that we got.

Had the windows tinted last week and XM installed today although it will go back to the shop because it doesn't always want to stay on-bad connection somewhere. Had the antenna mounted INSIDE the car, on the front right dash (all wires are hidden) and the radio is mounted in such a way as to not to be easily seen from the outside....

Still trying to match (or beat!) your mileage figures! I haven't had it out on the road yet - just bumper-to-bumper traffic but it won't be long!

A little odd - my motorcycle (Honda Goldwing) has a bigger engine (1.8 liter) and more cylinders (6) but I really like this little car! Later.....

Hi Rabbit

8 Miles!!! U lucky devil! Mine had 155 on it (I think you drove my car!) when we went to lunch to talk it over and when I got back it had 166! No big deal but..

Anyway's I'm looking into tint myself. Would you pm me with the details of your installer? Are ya satisfied , price, who etc. thanks.

Mileage. What a nightmare filling the tank! I had to go to 3 STATIONS to fill that little car! Rationing SUX!!! Get in line just to buy $20 worth of overpriced gas??? Just ridiculous! I almost went dry!

The details..
423 mi the low fuel light came on
453 mi I got my 1st drop of fuel Whew!
42.4 mpg on the meter
38.0 hand calc (The REAL number)
475.9 when I got done fillin it.
12.512 gal

I know...I know... I did the math too.. often...even if you back off the 22mi - .6 gal ... I did filling the tank, I somehow got 11.9 gl in a 10.6 gl tank. Must be a loonnngg filler tube & breathin fumes!

4.4 mpg variance or a 11% diff. on the meter.
About par with what others are reporting.
But 38 is STILL a respectable number for the 1st tank! I'll TAKE it

Goldwing? Your KILLIN ME! I miss mine. I traded my wing for a metal rod in my leg. Never take a motorcycle to a truck accident! It wasn't my fault but.. who cares! The bike ALWAYS loses...

The MPG meter is ultimately driven off the on board computer. I wonder if they have the ability for error correction...

Anyone? Anyone? Beuler? Beuler?
