Have had quite a few garage changes this week, had all four of these vehicles for 3 days. Unfortunately now the Mugen has a new home and we are down to 3.
So excited for some new projects!

Could be straightened but a new door skin would be better.

Its creased, no way a it can be fixed and a Skin is a hack way of doing it IMO. This will be getting a new door come hell or highwater.

Guessing you don't work in a bodyshop. That is a simple pull and pound fix if they don't give you a new skin.

Door skins are replaced hundreds of times daily all over the world and it is very effective fix for something like this where there is no underlying damage to the door frame.

Nothing hack about replacing a skin that is why they are made so they can be replaced and if a professional does it you wouldn't even be able to pick out which door has a new skin.

Take a deep breath and calm down a bit or you are going to piss off any claims adjuster they send around to check the damage and never get the results you are looking for.

Let me start out with saying that am infact NO expert in doing any body work myself. However working in the motorsports industry Ive done plenty of door skins and roof skins and things of that nature. Yes a "pull pound" would "fix" it with bondo and filler and fiberglass. Yes a skin would "fix it" and look fine for a few years.

We have owned this car from brand new. The door was a virgin original galvanized and painted door from Honda. Yes a "pull pound" would "fix" it with bondo and filler and fiberglass. Not an acceptable repair for a door that was perfect and to no fault of my own was damaged.Yes a skin would "fix it" and look fine for a few years. But there is no way a cut off door skin, hammered back door safety support with then a mig welded on new skin will be as corrosion resistant as the original door.

This car has 130k On it and will have hundreds of thousands more miles put on it in the future. If someone damages my property I have the right to have it repaired at a minimum the original quality and form as it was. Looking "okay" on the outside is not enough.

We can also break down the cost difference. A new Door skin from honda is $177.XX A new door is $423.XX. That is a $246 difference in parts price. Now when you factor in a MINIMUM time a shop would charge to cut off the old door skin and weld on the new one is 1 hour maybe 2 charged at an average rate of $100/hr. That brings us down to $146 difference and maybe $46 difference. Is $146.00 really that big of a deal to piss off your client? Insurance companies are worth and profit millions and millions of dollars. A quality shop would recommend the door replacement and a honorable insurance company would cover the $100 bill.

For reference I do things like this for fun on the side...

Thank you! I love the neon wheels as well, unfortunately my husband does not and he is the one daily-ing the car now.

Good news with the door! We were able to find a blue fit door at a local junkyard...it has some minor imperfections but nothing that can't be buffed out.
