Crash test video of Fit vs Accord

Didn't see the video posted, sorry if I overlooked them...

Fit vs. Accord

All three videos are here... in comparison, the Fit did well compared to the Yaris (ouch) and Smart (duh)

I am very concerned. I thought the Fit has a good crash rating. It has now been revised to POOR.

idk.. not too many cars can hold up to a 80 mph equivalent head on collision.

actually if u look at it, all the fit's airbags deploy first before the accord's. also the accord has a bigger engine than the fit and the weight difference, so i can believe that it leaves a bigger damage on the fit. but still ouch for the fit

Honestly, I can see how deep *thing* you will be if you are in the Yaris....

But the Fit and Smart, the front compartment is relatively not intruded...and if the airbags have done their job, how did they earn poor ratings?

i think its a ploy by american auto makers cause of bad sales and crappy cars to make the imports look bad.

Any small car is not going to fair well in that test. From what I understand for its size the fit is exceptionally safe.

edit: by comparison this looks pretty good: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SfWDs...eature=related

That fit did really well against that Accord. I'm surprised how well it has actually done!

In the Yaris and Smart, the test dummy smacked it's head. In the Fit, it was well protected by the side airbags.

They ran the acutal article in our newspaper on Thursday. Everyone I know was telling me about it. It is kinda funny because we purchased a micro and I knew well that if I had a crash with a large SVU the Fit would not win that battle. The thing I do is to always run with my lights on even on a sunny day and drive defensively. I avoid the interstate if I can and my work is a 7 minute run from my house - so I drive on a nice 2 lane all the way. I believe that Honda has made the Fit as safe as it could but as owners of a micro we have to know that we are not as safe as the driver of a heavier car. For me the small risk is worth it for the gas milage, the handling and the pure love that I have for my Fit.

Cat :x

Nothing's new about this test

The test shows nothing new about a smaller car crash with a larger car.
Everyone knows the larger car will win since the high school physics class.

BTW, I think they are advertising Ford Fusion hybrid.
If you go to IIHS website to see the whole clip, they have a new 2010 Ford Fusion hybrid there in the showroom.
