Talking ahhh Sexy Black

I really wanted a white one but am extremely happy with my pearl. Pulled up to the dealership and there she sat! I needed a car ASAP and didn't have time to order one. It's A Basic AT but I love her simpleness. haha..I do wish I had certain sport features but wth I can add them later. Funny enough there isn't another to be found at a dealership in Omaha. I know there is an orange sport running around somewhere. They got that to replace mine and now its gone! Black is great except for the maintenance and heat!

black is beautiful, well when its not made by honda.

I have black and i really love it. i get looks all the time and questions about my car. it looks great in black. the paint is not holding up well though.

that would be it! and my driver side door is so dull. we only take it to the hand car wash and waxed it only once. but its starting to bubble like on the hood. i cant really explain what is happening. and its scratching sooooo easy. i love the color and i am getting sick of people saying "well you bought black what do you expect"

i expect a beautiful shine and paint job that holds up. not asking much.

um, how do i post an image?

yeppers. my hood after 1 wash looks like it's oxidizing. really dull. I am lucky my friend owns a body shop. I can get it repainted for cost. And I agree about the peoples comments "you bought black, what do you expect" I expect a clearcoat to hold up. I had black cars before. Hondas to be specific. Nothing like this though

i also hear a lot about the fact that they are not using paint with chemicals in it anymore, blah blah blah. i dont really care. where i live most people have silver cars, they dont show scratches. the rest have black suvs. i dont mind a ding here and there but this isnt what is happening. its different. and the damn swirls! what is up with that? on my hood.

hmm...
you're making me nervous. No problems here yet. Not the best paintjob ever--orange peel and all--but Ive seen Mercedes and Cadillacs with worse orange peel on the back and sides. Had mine for a couple of months and it still looks good.

I can see how easily the black scratches away. Seems like in the first month had a few spots I could see the primer...and these faint spots that are all over even after washing/waxing. Any ideas what it is?

i dont think so. i am not the only kid on the block with a black car. or with a car for that matter.

if that were the case i would need to encase the entire car in a rubber cover.

i have heard bird dropings will oxidize your paint and you will never get that off. well i got that off - it was nowhere near my hood (that is the problem area). bird dropping was on the roof.

we cant blame ourselves for this. i am sure we have all had new cars before. well i have. never had this paint problem.

here are more excuses from others i have heard:

acid rain
acid rain in the bird dropings
bug stuff (just now)
pain doesnt have additives for environmental reasons. (my nail polish last longer)
why on earth did you buy black? (i happen to like black!)
dont park under trees - tree sap!! evil tree sap.
well you know its going to get dings and scratches, it will not stay new forever.

ughhhhhhhhhhh!

tired of excuses, ok the paint is delicate then put a finish on that protects that water based paint.
